You have to eventually take at least one on, but it's way at the end of the game. And by that point you are very well-equipped to handle it.

The hordes that are spread throughout the map can be avoided. But I loved taking them on. They can definitely be a challenge, but you can take them on in different ways and I had a blast.

      Good to know!

Does the game have a lot of main and side missions?

This game is pretty long. The map is huge. You can fast travel, but I had so much fun exploring and doing everything that popped up on the map that I never fast traveled. I have no clue how many hours I poured into this game, but it felt like I played it forever. And I'm not saying that in a bad way, because I really enjoyed every second I spent playing this game. This was my first ever platinum trophy.

There are a ton of side missions, which you can track by looking at the completion percentage of different storylines that are tracked throughout the game. When you pull up the storylines, it will tell you which of the active missions are for the main story (marked with a yellow marker of some sort) and the others are side missions.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you probably don't need to do any of the side missions. However, in doing them you gain trust from whichever camp they originate from, which let's you upgrade your bike and weaponry.

Just saw a Breaker and a Rager fight each other while I hid in the distance. It was a long, epic three-minute battle. I should have made a video of that. Breaker won and then I took him down with two shots since he was so hurt from the Rager.

One thing I loved about this game is that after several failed attempts of me vs a Horde in a story mission it gave me the option to skip it.

Sadly, there were three expansions originally scheduled for the game but they were cancelled in favor of going straight to a next gen sequel.

Is it possible to get the honey badger gun or w/e called, early in the game?

The first gun to buy is lil stubby its a level 2 gun so you will unlock it early on. This allows you to have a shotgun in the postal slot. The majority of the guns aren’t unlocked to level 3 Of the camps.

Damn it’s really easy to run out of ammo.

When do I get a 2nd gun besides the pistol?

When you're on the road, check the trunks of cop cars for ammo. However, once you open and cop car trunk and take the ammo it does not "respawn" with a closed trunk/more ammo. You can loot it once and that trunk will be open the rest of the time you play the game.

                          Re: Days Gone

I finished this last night on hard. Probably one of the best stories I've ever played. The voice acting was tremendous and I felt the emotions the characters were feeling which is a credit to the script, dialogue and the acting. I actually enjoyed the story more than the Last of Us (although the Last of Us had a more dramatic ending). Deacon St. John is a far better character than grumpy Joel or Ellie.

The Oregon setting and upgrading your motorcycle and weapons by building trust with the camps was well done. I didn't fast travel once which I think enhanced the experience.

There were quite a few jump out of my seats moments when I was legitimately startled by an attack. I guess that shows how involved I was in the game.

The biggest negative is definitely the repetitive game play which is basically just go and kill things. Although that seems to be a true for a lot of games it's really noticeable here. I understand why that might turn off a lot of reviewers. It still deserved better reviews. Maybe when they come out with the inevitable sequel there will be more things to do (Fallout 4 style settlement building? Fishing? Finding cave art like Red Dead Redemption 2?)

It's definitely a must play if you have a Playstation. I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

Deacon was a good character, but I wouldn't day he was better than Joel or even Ellie. Joel had good reasons to be grumpy. If you want to keep it 100% deacon was a bit of a sarcastic A hole at times.

The hoards travel , usually to 2 to 3 different spots. Before I took them on I spent time finding those spots and picked the best one for taking them on. Also once you start killing them you can jump on your bike and ride away a bit and they will stop chasing. Then go back to them and kill some more. I took each hoard out a little at a time. Also use noise makers to distract them and of course always stock up on ammo before going out after one.

I am the ultimate horde coward. I could not run and gun a horde. The ones I took out were done exactly like you just described. Methodical elimination. All three took a lot of time which was the fun. I do wish I could run and gun though, just one time.

Oh, and being fulling ammo'd up is a must.
