The RPG elements are really basic and isn't really going to demand multiple play throughs. I'm nearing the end of the game doing a few favors on the way and I have nearly every skill unlocked and a few of the runes maxed out.

Damn, was hoping that wasn't the case.


And I don't find Atreus annoying at all so far.


Man I wish I could play the previous GoW games with these graphics.

I don't find him annoying either, actually he acts like a kid would for the most part, think he knows everything, wants to do what he wants to do and gets in trouble for not listening. Think he's been done pretty well.

Loving playing this game as its really my first GOW and like the RPG element but man I can't stop wishing this was more open ended.

was super easy on "GMGOW." My strategy was to stay on the edge of the cave cliff (see pict) when you jump down to initiate the battle, and have Atreus peg him with arrows while you throw your axe. When he stomps just hit X 2x to roll back avoiding the burst flame that spawns near you. It took took about 15 mins, but now the enemies can 1 shot kill me now, so I use the environment to my advantage.

Have put roughly 3 hours in and this might be the most exciting PS4/Xbox One title I have ever played. The first battle just left me speechless. My wife is not a gamer at all but she watched me play the first couple hours and she was just as hyped as me. She kept saying I’m going upstairs but she never left.

This game is a system seller in my opinion.

I can't agree more, I have about 4 hours in and My twitter feed is full with screens shots that are Jaw dropping. I ave the X and Pro and this is by far the best game I have ever played this gen period, I mean Best. I'm a hug GOW fan since the beginning, but this is just great.

Can't wait to get home and play more , its hard for me to game during the week, but I can't stay away. 10/10 for me.

Here me out. God of War 1 with the big climbing rotating spike walls, God of War 2 with the Pegasus flying, God of War 3 with annoying Pandora and the terrible part of the game where you fly up and down the chain. Mashing buttons to open doors.

God of War Ascension was terrible. I enjoyed the PSP games iirc, but I only played them once years ago.

I've played the console games probably as much as anyone.

There is a lot of good in the games obviously, but some things in the games make me wonder what they were thinking.

I got a better appreciation for this after playing GoW 3 again the other day. When playing there was multiple scenarios that made me think I really hope this crap is gone in the next game. (And most of it is, an example is how you used to have to mash circle to open every door.)

GOW definitely looks gorgeous. Best looking console game I’ve played. That said, the game is frustratingly hard and not one I want to devote 30 plus hours to. I know I’m in the extreme minority but when I play games, it’s to relax and be entertained. Yes I want a challenge but this type of game just doesn’t appeal to me. Nor do I necessarily care about the story. Getting old sucks...I’m happy I spent only $3.26 for a Redbox rental.

You should be good to go. I think they make references to stuff that happened in the past, but the previous titles aren't necessary.

Has anyone experimented with the different armor types? The Arcane armor looks pretty cool, but don't know the drawbacks other than less strength.
