Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
I'm a ways into it now and I have to say this game is a BLAST!
I thought it may end up being repetitive but the more I play and unlock things it's just better and better.
At first I was going into fights "normally" and hope I survive. Now it's almost like a switch was hit and it's more "creative" as I go into it looking for cool attacks and a smooth fight rather than a cluster F .. if you know what I mean.
The moves have become intuitive and free flowing instead of trying to remember what does what.
Such a great experience so far.Joshua:

SpoilerI thought they did Aunt May and Peter dirty, having her die like that. After she dies you can see her freshly buried next to Uncle Ben.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Just got this game today. Played a few hours so far. This game is a lot of fun, the kind of game that you just want to keep playing and not stop. Really enjoying it so far. I died like 2 or 3 times on the first/opening mission playing on amazing difficulty. Surprisingly none were in the boss fight. Fisk was actually the easiest part. Just keep webbing him up as you dodge around defeating everyone else.
Took a bit to learn the controls, certainly haven’t mastered them though. Just swinging around the city and fighting random crime is fun. Quite a lot to do and keep you busy between the story, side missions, random crime, the towers that unlock parts of the map, backpacks, landmarks, etc. This’ll be my main game for a while.
The city feels so alive and the map feels so big. I don’t think webbing objects and throwing them at enemies will ever get old. And those J Jonah Jameson podcasts are gold. Love it when you’re swinging around the city and those come on.
Can’t wait to dive back in tomorrow.Last edited by Rocket32; 09-15-2018, 02:58 AM.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Man, you guys finishing fast. Yesterday I spent three hours doing side missions and only did one story mission.
I'm sure I'll be done by the first DLC though. Surprised to be over 30% complete already.

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Been off for a few days so I got the platinum yesterday afternoon (my first ever!).
Really love this game. The combat feels fantastic, if a little frantic at times. It has less of a steady rhythm to it than the Arkham games due to the ability for them to have so many projectile enemies. Overall I enjoyed it quite a lot. I never used gadgets much outside of the challenge rooms and outposts that asked me to and getting one trophy but I could see how useful they could've been if I had chosen to use them more consistently. I got a tip that I didn't see until fairly late that you can quick switch between two gadgets with L1 and that may have made a difference, even so the web shooters were great. I used Web Blossom 98% of the game, unless i had to electrify a certain amount and then put the Electric Punch on. I was Classic Suit for life until I unlocked the Stark Suit, man it's just beautiful. Made me go back and watch Homecoming again, really may be my favorite suit.
I thought the story was very well told. The thing that drew me to the Batman games, and that I always bring up with these kinds of games, is the production value. You can just see how much time and effort is spent crafting these cutscenes and putting the story beats together. I think the impact of the story may have been lost on me because I was so intent on getting all of the side missions done between the main mission instead of pushing through with the urgency that the main story implies. I just knew if I didn't 100% the districts before I finished the game there was no way I was going to go back and have sessions just full of that. My biggest story gripe is that it's told in a weird way to me, focusing so much on Mr. Negative whenSpoileranyone who knew Spider-Man knew who the villain was, do they think people haven't seen Spider-Man 2?
That being said, Spider-Man is my second favorite superhero ever so I'm going to be more critical of him than I would've been of Batman who isn't top 5 for me. Insomniac has an excellent base to start from, and nailed the feeling of Spider-Man in much the same way Rocksteady did with Batman. Remembering the leap from Arkham Asylum to City has to have everybody excited because this is a much better starting point than AA IMO. More animations, opening up the universe with other Marvel superheroes (hopefully), and more of the villains we all know and love, and I could see a trilogy of these coming very close to the Arkham Trilogy for me.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Playing on spectacular and loving the game. The combat was a little tough early on, but once you master it you'll be having fun.

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Damn, as you get further in the game the random crime gets intense. Start with break ins, robberies, kidnapping’s, mugging’s, etc, to more vehicle chases then before, more rooftop ambush’s, armored car robberies, hostage situations, street shootouts, and bombs. Like the sound of those shootouts, sounds really good in the game.Last edited by Rocket32; 09-16-2018, 11:09 PM.Comment

Re: Spider-Man (PS4 Exclusive)
Just have to say I really liked MR's negative in this game never heard of him before this game and I known he is a much lesser known villain and much newer. But the way he was used in this game was so good.Comment
