This right here is AMAZING!!!! Paid $40 for this and can't believe how it changes the feel of this game. I think I feel like a real commander out in space now.



I'm so hyped right now that I'm in the giving mood. To help out a fellow OS Elite Dangerous Commander out who would like a 1 week old, less than 2 hours of use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight stick you can have it. All that I ask is that you pay for the shipping and not sell it to make a profit. I'm off work Friday and can ship it out then

So how you fellas go about in Elite Dangerous? You go mission to mission? you only go safe? you do bounties? how you handle business? you just free fly? you do open or solo play? So far I have only done safe delivery missions with decent credits, just to get myself use to traveling and navigation. Side note, learned when going to a new system, make sure to mark a specific system navigation point, if not, you will come out of hyper at the systems sun!!! haha learned that the hard way a few times. almost fried myself.

I do a variety of missions mostly delivery type but have done combat missions and what not. And i believe you only drop out at the sun when you get too close. Just turn away from it and you should stay in hyper.

If anyone was wondering what was the recent 1.05 update for the PS4 here are the dev's comments.

PS4 Hotfix (25/07/17)
Greetings PS4 Commanders,

At 10am BST today we made a quick hotfix live that addressed the following problems:

- Fixed various game crashing issues.
- Fixed an issue where the Horizons Season Pass could not be shared by a Primary PlayStation 4 account.
- Added a speculative disconnections/connectivity fix

This shouldn't affect any other platforms. Thanks!

Also, sounds like Frontier is working on a new game based on a well know movie franchise, teasing about future updates regarding settlements on planets, and partnered with Tencent on expanding its pc platforms by selling a percentage to them.

Tencent, the largest gaming company in the world in terms of revenue, has just nabbed 9% of Frontier Developments in a landmark deal worth $23 million. The developer, which is best known for its space exploration and trading game Elite: Dangerous, will join other companies like Paradox and Epic Games, as the Chinese corporation expands its portfolio.

Recently, Braben told Glixel in an interview, that the company was in the process of developing a new game based on a 'well known' movie franchise. Even though he didn't expand on this further, the game is expected to launch in 2018. Braben also teased future updates for Elite: Dangerous, saying that the next logical step would be to introduce 'settlements' on planets.

Stupid question: I put this game aside for awhile and when I played last night I could not figure out how to read incoming messages while in flight. This is on PS4 and I thought it was pressing upper left on the sensor pad but that was not working. Can someone help me out? I didn't see anything in the control scheme.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One will be available for free to all Elite Dangerous players Feb 27th.

The new Advance Tactical Response will be on the hunt for repeat offenders, ‘Hot Ships’ attach crimes to players’ spacecrafts, and new notoriety levels increase consequences for illegal activities making the galaxy a more challenging place for veteran pilots.

On launch day players will have access to new contacts for Elite Dangerous Horizons owners as tech brokers, dealers of rare tools and technologies, give players a chance to acquire new items based on their personal narrative and experience. In addition, material traders will allow commanders to convert and exchange materials, making engineering and unlocking missions with tech brokers more accessible.

The update will also include an array of improvements and updates, including the addition of a trade data overlay helping commanders find the most profitable trades in the Milky Way, changes to the engineering mechanics which ensure guaranteed improvement when crafting, the overhaul of the mission rewards system as well as the introduction of a new combat ship, The Chieftain, built as a response to the new Thargoid threat.

As someone who plays exclusively as an Explorer this update takes this game to a whole other level. The variety of planet textures visible from orbit adds a great deal to the experience. I'm really looking forward to the update coming the end of 2018 where we will see a lot more variety in geographical features on planetary surfaces. Hopefully that is the springboard to finally allow us to land on planets with atmospheres. That's one area where No Man's Sky is so much more enjoyable than Elite.

Yeah, that is what I really enjoyed about NMS. Landing on different planets with varied looks/atmosphere/life forms. Is there any other sci fi exploration game like that? I thought ED was based on descriptions but when I looked into it...not quite.

I saw advertisements that was saying elite was 55% off. I once owned it on ps4 and loved it and have really been having the itch to get it again. However, I went on th e ps store and it was still 59.99...so no go for now

Hell, I have God of War on my PS4 Pro hard drive and have not even opened it.

Krait and Orca are my favorites, but my list of ships and their roles is like this:

Federal Corvette - RES mass destruction and carnage!!!
Anaconda - deep exploration
Python - medium miner
T9 - Heavy miner w/fighter
Krait - light exploration/bubble-runner/bounty hunter
Orca - sightseeing missions
Beluga - passenger hauling
Viper Mk IV - light RES/bounty hunting


Semi-retired: Asp Explorer (Krait now does this) and Dolphin (Beluga and Orca now do this)

Still to get: Probably a Fer De Lance for assassination missions, but really the Corvette or the Krait can do this.
