Was trying Red Dead Online on the PS4 this morning, it's semi enjoyable. The game is throwing me into rooms with just me, I have to join other rooms full of people, then when you do a stranger mission, it punts me back out to an empty room.

I do like how they set Online up and

The intense, in-depth, RPG-type feel that RDR 2 has--reminiscent of The Witcher 3 and many other games--is impressive but not my favorite cup of tea. The Witcher 3 is one of the few non-sports games I've played in the last five years and while it was an amazing game it was simply too overwhelming for me. I was glad when I finished it and never gave a thought to a second playthrough.

That said, my second playthrough of RDR 2 has been more enjoyable since I know what I'm doing from the jump and I can explore the world and advance the story without nearly as much frustration as the first go-round. The game isn't quite as intense as the likes of The Witcher 3 and I've realized if I cook some meat by campfire and remember to sleep at camp or my campfire every day or so I'll be fine. Hunting still gets frustrating; searching for perfect squirrel pelts and such. :

This video had me in tears. Not sure if it spoils anything or not so proceed with caution.

I can't wait to play this online.. I was laughing my butt off watching streams last night of the online beta.. amazing

what makes me laugh most is all these people already complaining about people rolling up on them and killing them when they are trying to do co op missions with a buddy online.... really?????

if you expected to go online with a few friends to just play co op missions and not ever get messed with.. that's just stupid to think that. stay offline if you think like this ... please... that's the best part about read dead online and what is going to make it the best is that type of stuff

Some people just want to play with some buddies, do missions, fishing or just roam around without getting griefed every 30 seconds. GTA Online(and RDR1, I think?) had a passive mode where you couldn't get shot by other players, this is why people are complaining and it's a legitimate complaint.
Everyone's idea of fun is different and it's ridiculous to tell people to "stay offline."

                  Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I don't remember RDR1 having that but maybe you're right

I'm not saying the developers shouldn't try to cater to these people

but to complain about probably the best part about red dead online is just funny to me...

                  fair enough

the open world aspect of that is what makes it a great experience where anything can happen at anytime making it a reality

you don't want to be messed with there are ways to counter it by riding in numbers for one and other ways but yes I also understand those who just want to play co op missions vs the computer.... however, I think it's funny to expect to do that without ever getting shot at......

you should stay offline if you want to do that but I guess if you want to play with one friend online co op and not ever want to other user interaction then okay maybe the developers can do something for those people but to complain about it acting furious about that like it's a surprise with that happening to them just makes me laugh. I don't remember the first red dead having that but I could be wrong... that was the same for me in that game

but if you are one that this totally annoys then I would advise to stay offline then for now.. because that's all red dead 1 was about for me... and the whole point of red dead online for me and everyone else I play with

remember it's the online beta so they probably will have something for those who just want to do that

I don't think it is unreasonable to complain about people griefing you for the heck of it when you're minding you're own business. If they kill you once, okay. If you don't spawn and fight back why not just find someone else to get into a fight with?

                      Red Dead Redemption 2

Online is brutal like I figured. Shame. Total grind fest. 112 dollars for a hat I just unlocked and I made 17 dollars after doing the prologue and 2 missions. I won’t be sinking too much time into this. I stopped playing gta online because of this so no reason to even start this up unfortunately.

Probably placebo but the pro version looks a little sharper/cleaner post patch (I'm playing with HDR off)
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

There are numerous modes meant for shooting people. Trolls should just go play those. Like people have mentioned I’m sure passive mode will be a thing eventually.

I'm pretty sure eventually they will release booster backs you can buy like every other game has. The masses not going to want to grind to get stuff. I can imagine it being like this:

                                $10 for $100
                                $20 for $250
$50 for $400 and couple of gold bars

X amount of money to get certain items outright instantly like guns, outfits, certain horses

Then I can imagine them having a Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patrick Day, 4th of July and Halloween theme outfits you can buy.
