That stuff won't. It's only carcasses that do. I had a deer carcass on my horse, trying to take it back to camp and kept getting caught by bounty hunters and had to get away/fight them off. It eventually just fell off my horse on my way back because it decayed.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Picked it up on Friday and got a whole lot of time with it over the long weekend. 3 or so missions into Chapter 4.
Story is up there if you ignore the fact thatSpoileryour gang leader, yourself, and your friends are all the WORST planners known to man.
"Hey guys, we need to lay low, but also openly shoot up the ENTIRE town we camp by"
Graphics are amazing. The game is beautiful. Nothing else much to say there.
I'm enjoying the game. However, there are too many annoyances - many of them R* legacy issues that at this point when you compare it to other similar type open world games, the game falls short.
- Shooting system. I feel like this isn't even worth discussing. R* refuses to improve it, and it is what it is. Dead Eye really does help in this game though.
-Character control. Nothing about it is smooth. Going in and out of cover is a total crapshoot. There is nothing in between the slowest. walking. character. ever. and running. When you have played games like HZD, the newer AC games, and the Far Cry series, this really sticks out like a sore thumb.
- Menu. Clunky as hell. Every modern open world game has a single pause screen with tabs to navigate through to get to different screens about your character and progress. This menu is a festival of pressing circle to go back.
I would really like the hunting and fishing stuff a lot more if the system wasn't so damn tedious. I've had about 100 pheasants take off from next to my feet but because I didn't hold a button for the allotted amount of time while looking at it, I still don't know what that bird is? OK.
I'm not going to belabor all the little annoyances like that one that exist in this game because there are plenty of them. Where I'm at is that it's a great game that while you're playing, someone is poking you in the ribs or giving you a wet willy at every turn. This game is perfect for a casual mode and a hardcore mode option. This might exist, as I haven't looked closely at the options? I dunno, but somehow I doubt it because the developers clearly have a vision of the way they want the game to be played. And that's fine, it's just man, what is some of this stuff? For example, you have to consciously remember to take your rifle from your horse... Why?
I stick almost exclusively to story and stranger missions right now. With some hunts of opportunity with my bow from my horse if an easy shot presents itself. BTW, anyone starting out shouldSpoilerreally wait until after Chapter 3 to truly start exploring because at that point the game finally introduces what I think are all of the things you'd want such as fishing, fire bombs, a place to sell stolen horses, etc.
Maybe later I'll give the hunting and identifying stuff more of a try, but we'll see. At this point, I think I'll just see where the story goes and check out online to see what it's going to be all about. I could see running with some fools from here in a gang being pretty fun.
EDIT: I also have no loyalty towards my original horse, El Hefe. I've gotten full bond with two others - Carl and Noire. I'm not getting caught with a subpar horse because I got reckless with one I built up, lol.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 11-26-2018, 02:58 PM.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I've considered restarting just because I feel like I'm missing something, but to be perfectly honest this game has me wanting to run back through The Witcher 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn, or Watch Dogs 2 more than anything else. I know those games don't have ALL the things RDR 2 does, but those games grabbed me from the start and didn't let go until the end. For what's in those games they execute them in ways that never break my immersion from the game's respective world.

Found the High Stakes Treasure last night. Whohooooo!
Spoiler3 gold bars and damn it was a fun treasure hunt. Not easy at all. I will say do a ton of exploring on the map if you plan on treasure hunting because there are definitely land marks everywhere that are distinctive and will be part of these treasure maps/hunts.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
100% this. I'm on Chapter 3, but I really have no urge or ambition to lumber through this game. This is really depressing to me because RDR1 was so great, but damn if this game just doesn't get in the way of itself.

I wouldn’t restart if I was you. Just keep advancing the story and doing the stranger/side missions in white that pop up. It all really is entertaining and leads you to different rewards, leads for different things, and weapons.
Keep eating to keep yourself at average because being underweight gives you a damage malus. This can be done at camp, by eating your cans of food, or by buying meals at saloons that have them.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Now that I have finished the main story:
SpoilerNow that I'm John Marston and I've explored the section of the map from RDR 1, I really hope they can somehow give us the entire first game to play through in this game as DLC. I know it's a dream but a lot of the map is already there.Comment
