    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I’ve enjoyed my time with the game. I don’t change clothes, have bought virtually nothing other than camp upgrades, have crafted nothing, don’t do chores around camp and try to avoid doing any thing I consider tedious. I largely stick to missions and have had fun. The open world is good. Things are really alive more than other open world/sandbox games I have played.

That said, this game isn’t GOTY material imo. I’d still give it a solid 8.5. I like it more than Spiderman but not as much as GOW or Detroit. I prefer games with a stronger story. I do prefer linear games over open world. I’m in chapter 3 and even though I have played roughly 25+ hours (I wish it would track it for us) there is no story whatsoever. We leave Blackwater and Dutch did something questionable. That’s all I know. Ever since then I have done nothing but collect money, rob people or other basic missions. These ARE fun but are starting to feel pointless. When I hear people talking about doing side missions vs main missions there are no differences so far. I honestly don’t know what the point of this game is other than shooting and robbing people. Again, that’s fun but I’m finding the urge to play other games pull at me now. There is nothing special about the combat or anything. This is just a very detailed and real open world game that people who love to just screw around can enjoy but I wish there was more of a point.

There is a story but it only makes sense if you just accept the fact that Arthur is an idiot.

EDIT: Oh, you asked how to get a brush. I don't remember but it's really early in the game.

There's a mission that brings you to the stables of Valentine early in the game. Might be one of the first missions of Chapter 2, if not the actual first mission (the one that causes the glitch, even? lol).

I'd say I have to have over 100 hours by now in the game. If not, I'm definitely over the 80 hour limit. I just started chapter 4 tonight. I love nearly everything about this game. I can see why everyone might not like certain aspects of the game, but it fits what I want in a game. I'd love to see a survival game built off of this game. The world with all of the animals and plants along with the era fits exactly what I'd love to see out of a survival game. Plus there is hunting and fishing that is done so well. DayZ and others like it give me my fix when I need it, but if you gave me this gameplay in that type of game I'd not be buying a new game for a loooong time.

Lets just say a person killed a legendary bison as they dove into a lake. And the water was deep so they were unable to skin said bison. Will it respawn or am I screwed?

The trapper will get the skin magically once you leave the area.

Another skin question while we're at it, if the trapper has multiple products that require, say, the legendary white fox skin, will I be able to make all of those products or do I have to pick a single option for that skin to be used on?

You can use the legendary skin 3 times.

                        Example

                        Legendary Fox + ________ = Item A
                        Legendary Fox + ________ = Item B
                        Legendary Fox + ________ = Item C

There won't be anymore items that require the Legendary Fox skin after Item C.

The same cannot be said for non-legendary pelts. 1 pelt is good for 1 item.

Thanks. I REALLY didn’t want to think about not getting that. Got the Arabian while I was in the area also.

Just finished the main story, got the bad ending and I hated it. Just starting the epilogue now. Hopefully theres more to do then what I'm doing in the beginning

Pretty much where I'm at. I think I've enjoyed reading through the thread more than actually playing it. I'm on Thanksgiving break now so I think I'm gonna use the time to power through it.

To add to this, you don't have to dismount. You can hold L1 on the horse, go to the horse wheel, and it's right stick to the right. You just have to be stopped or slowly trotting.
