Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Lol, I don't have 200 hours in, BUT I recently finished the story and won't think twice about rocking this again from the beginning.
More importantly giving online a try with my buds who've never played it.

If you've a PC that can run it well, there's nothing to think about. Fire this baby up on PC and don't look back!

Yeah, my computer can handle it haha (i9-9900k / RTX 2080-Ti). I get that there's no question; there is no doubt I'll be getting this version, but I wonder if I should wait to sink my teeth in it for: (1) mods to come out; (2) me to first finish what I started on PS4.
By the way, not that this is anything close to what we would be getting on PC, I make-shifted a "60 FPS" gameplay clip of RDR 2 a while back if anyone would like to check it out (I tried to stay spoiler-free and just show some gunplay and horse riding). This is just to get a taste of the idea, that's all.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
The next step for the honor system next time they make a RDR game is to have the choices you make truly impact the story beyond some slightly different endings and dialogue. Make it so its worth it to play through the whole game multiple times making different choices. Even if they have to make the story shorter to pull it off
While I really enjoyed the story and production value of RDR and RDR2, for RDR3, I'd love to see a much shorter story where your choices and actions organically alter the story around you.
I loved RDR2, but I'll never play the game over again. Too long. But give me a 5 hour story that features multiple endings and I'm in.
I've never fully played Skyrim, but I've read enough about how deep the world is, I'd LOVE to play an RDR with the same kind of depth.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Gunfights should be more deadly and intense... not so formulaic and easy.
Skyrim is actually the type of RPG that's wide as an ocean, but deep as a puddle.Last edited by Anthraticus; 10-06-2019, 11:26 AM.Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
How the hell do you mod a game and why does Rockstar allow it?

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
A lot of mods are just tweaking values to make the gameplay different. For example, you can tweak the values to make the guns do different damages than they do by default. You can make it to where any gun is basically a one hit kill to you or the AI if a hit to the torso occurs. You could mod it and make it take 20 shots to kill anything.
You can mod it to make horse move differently potentially. Basically, the majority of mdos for games are just changing values around to make the game play a bit different than how the devs made it. Some people always want the game to be more hardcore, some want it less. Mods allow both crowds to be pleased with a game.
Then, more advanced mods can add completely new things to game from new features to even removing features potentially. It varies game by game as to what can and cannot be changed with games, but given the amount of mods we've seen for GTA IV and V it is likely RDR2 will see plenty of mods that actually can change the gameplay a bit.
Why would devs allow mods and user content to be created? For some games like Cities Skylines or Farming Simulator, why not? They aren't competitive games and allowing users to easily add more features or assets to a game can only help your game be more popular. For games like this, why limit single player mods? They hurt nobody, and can only help make more people interested in the game when they see they can fine tune it to what they want. Mods online are not as accepted and rightfully so. Rockstar does try to stop mods from entering online play, but that doesn't mean you won't run across any.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
