It took me a minute to figure those out too. I always hunt deer for the meat so we were always good there. The others, which are medical, and ammunition, I think, can be purchased at the ledger. It's right next to the donation box. Look through the ledger and buy what the camp needs. Those icons will go from red to white.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
Was collecting a debt and in doing so this guy starts a fight with me and I take care of him. Then I have to loot him in order to collect the money but apparently someone thought that I was stealing and I got the law on me. Was able to hide from them but have a $10 bounty on me now. While hiding from the law I came across an encounter that I thought was a little weird. Will put it in spoilers just in case someone doesn’t want it spoiled.
Spoilercame across a guy sitting out on his porch and welcomed me into his home to eat. I went inside and he told me to go check on the woman and tell her to hurry up. I did that then came back down and sat down at the table. She came down and served dinner and when they were talking I’m pretty sure they said they were brother and sister an she poured me a drink and it felt like they were trying to get me drunk. So instead of seeing what would happen I get up and leave.
You think that’s weird?Spoileri drank and kept drinking then woke up robbed and in the rain in some field in the fetal position. I ended up going back to that house and killed them both and got my money back then some

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
The subtle details of the world really flesh out even small storylines you thought were over and permanently "off the stage" so to speak. In the first quest you do for Strauss
SpoilerThe part with Thomas Downs, I beat him up before the scene where his wife and son come out to plead with you that he's sick, and they have nothing, he's just trying to do his best working his crappy farm. So I left and felt pretty bad, but thought that's the last I'd hear about him in the game.
Quite some time later after traversing much of the map, and having all sorts of adventures, I was back in Valentine and just shopping at the General Store, and the shopkeeper offhandedly mentioned Thomas Downes had died, and he'd been sick for a while. That really made me understand kind of what the gang and Arthur are, despite their veneer of righteousness, or even that their worldview is simply a grey one.Comment

Yeah I surprise myself sometimes with how creatively bad I can be in these open world games, glad I'm not compelled to do stuff like that for real or i would no doubt already be in prison lol

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
So I may have done one mission since starting Chapter 2, and I'm just slowing down and trying to immerse myself in the world and figure out what is where, etc. Yet every time I save it seems to bump up my percentage a lot. It says that I am 18.6% done with the game. Sure, I kill a new animal every now and then and pick a new herb, but there is no possible way that I'm actually 1/5 done with this game having only done like eight missions lol.
I wonder how many of my students are getting and playing this game, and what they think of it. I bet a lot would call it slow and boring. This is not a game that I'm sitting around trying to "beat." I'm just trying to live in it for a long time. I've been wondering the same thing about how the generational divide will view this game. For me, this is the kind of game I was fantasizing might be possible in the far off future when I was wandering around worlds like Ultima and Might and Magic.Comment

Maybe I haven't gone far enough in the game mission-wise. After all, I accidentally just walked into a mission that was partly a tutorial on how I can talk to other people, even though I've been doing that forever so far.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I came upon that storyline with the fallen horse. But I had just finished killing the bear and I think because of the hide on the horse I couldn't take the woman home.
She kept saying she couldn't fit and my only option was to take back my offer.
Sorry but I wasn't giving up all that expensive fur to help her out. This is the late 1800s. Chivalry's dead and ain't coming back till circa 2015.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2
I’ll admit, last night I was thinking to myself this game isn't for me. It's too slow paced, I'm fighting the controls somewhat, and I'm just getting more and more overwhelmed with things to do. Well, today I played some more and just relaxed instead of trying to rush through the game, and enjoyed it much much more. I'm going along with the story mode, but taking my time to stop and help others along the way, or beat/kill if need be. It's just an unbeliveable open world that feels alive and is breathtakingly beautiful. I'm quite sure I won't complete this game for many months, but that's ok. I'm loving being lost in the country and stumbling upon a desserted house, or stopping to talk to a couple men enjoying a camp fire. Then again, they weren't very happy I stopped and threatened me so I shot them dead and looted all their belongings.
I'm still coming to grips with having to keep yourself fed, bathing, taking care of your horse, etc. Some of these jobs feel monotonous, but add to the immersion of the game. I fully understand the crticisms of this seemingly cowboy life simulator, and I almost gave up too quickly. If you approach this game differently than any open world game before this, I think you'll appreciate it that much more.

Thanks, but I'm not seeing this ledger you're all talking about. I've walked all around the tent and it's just not there.

It sits right next to the treasure box on a barrel, not in a tent
How are you guys getting money? I've had some terrible luck, accidentally removed some items in front of everyone in Valentine and had a bounty
Went back to pay it and accidentally got in a fight because i couldnt stop the horse and he ran into someone so the post office was locked
Spent the money on weapons because i ran out of ammo and now trying to get it all back
I was being nice, then i just got tired of everybody coming at me so i started shooting people on the road, killing snitches who told on me and now i feel like anybody out in the middle of nowhere with no witnesses who might have money is a goner
I did find another post office but i didnt have the money to pay off the bounty so i need to collect more.. any ideas?Comment
