I agree some features are awesome, I personally like being able to hear people near me through the speakers. The main issue I have is their playlists, Territories/Land Grabs are little fun because they almost always are lopsided, and CTF games can end in a tie. I know they'll address this but how could they not see that as a problem at testing? I think it's dumb to add all this customization and lock it away from everybody.

Re: Official Halo 2 Impressions, I've got it, General Discussion thread

I don't see what is so great about the online mode of this game. They advertised it like it would be the greatest multiplayer game ever. It seems like every other 1st person game online to me, just run around and shoot the other team, and play again....... I was hoping for coop and being able to go through the levels against different enemies etc ala Diablo except 1st person.. Now that would have been cool. I enjoyed the campaign , but overall I think the multiplayer aspect is overrated and done before/boring. It really isn't anything revolutionary at all.

Speaking of a great game idea, anyone that has ever played Diablo online knows what I am talking about. That game was so addicting... That whole genre appears to be lost. It wasn't an rpg. It was more of a shooter with rpg elements. It had a set storyline where you went through various levels ala doom or halo, and fought different bosse every so often. It would be very cool if someone could translate that into a 1st person coop game for online play. I was expecting halo 2 to be that without the rpg elements. It would have been cool had the online play at least allowed coop. i dont really like online games like everquest where there is no set story. I just want an action game i can play online. And if it has some rpg elements then even better. Anyone know of a game like this? Baldurs gate was sort of like this but it was too rpg, the action arcade style shooter element was missing. Diablo was the only game I recall getting all this right. It's just outdated by today's standards. I wish someone would make a game like that with better graphics, 1st person etc.. Halo 2 had it been coop online with more bosses, and some rpg elements would have nailed it. Gauntlet is obviously the orginal game like this... It seems like a simple premise, that game developers are missing out on with all these great 1st person games coming out. I'm not too big into the skirmish type online battles..

I think you're trapped between audiences. Those who have the patience and discipline to play the type of game you want, tend to lean toward wanting more of the RPG elements. The counter-strike, halo, socom crowd wants their online games fast and furious with no story elements to slow them down. I also would like to play the type of game you're suggesting, but I think we're in the minority, especially on the consoles.

Maybe so, but Diablo was a huge success and sold tons of copies. Same with Gauntlet. It seems like these types of games are few and in between though. After Diablo I was expecting tons of games like this set in different settings, IE current war settings, futuristic etc.. Better graphics, 1st person, etc.. It never happened. There are a bunch of games that have this potential but the game developers just don't go the extra mile to include coop for online play.

The thing with Diablo was it didnt take patience and discipline. It was a straight forward shooter type game that didnt require much thought to play. It was just a blast.. Plus it had enough rpg elements that made teh replay value immense. This is why I dont like games like Everquest, Baldurs Gate because they take too much patience etc.. Too much story and player building, not enough action. All Halo 2 had to do was make the campaign mode coop online and it would have been a blast imo.

BTW, X-men legends looks like this type of game. Im considering picking it up. It isnt first person though, But looks similar to gauntlet with x-men characters. I remember the original x-men game in the arcade that was like this. I love games like that. There just arent many.

Anyhow this is kind of off topic and probably belongs somewhere else. Just kind of disapointed that Halo didnt include coop.. I thought it was going to. The skirmish type stuff doesn't do it for me.

It's ONLY a bad ending because of the uncertainty to Halo 3. PERIOD. If this was like the Matrix situation where we knew there was a 3rd movie then the ending would be stupendous. If Bungie confirms there will be no Halo 3 then I'll agree with you. However, there probably will be a Halo 3 soooooo, the ending is perfectly fine imo.

i actually liked the ending because it set the stage so well for halo 3(if we have one, but its almost inevitable) the thing is the next game, we'll be thrown straight into the fire, without cortana, maybe for the whole game

Why wouldn't there be a halo 3? It's basically the mascot of the xbox and they made a whole bunch of money on halo 1 and halo 2. If they didn't make a halo 3, that would be dumb.
