Ok. The long sword is the katana. Yeah, it’s alright. I didnt do too well with it, tho. If I could figure out the charge blade, it seems like you can do some pretty significant damage with it and it doesn’t slow you down much! It’s a little confusing.

Has anyone be able to join an online session?
I’ve tried to join one, I’ve looked for SOS, I’ve sent SOS. It just keeps says nothing available.

I've done every mission with dual blades so far and have had a lot of success. I'm going to try out some Lance today because it just looks so awesome. This game has its hooks in me right now. Loving it.

I just keep replaying the optional quests just to try and make a final decision on one and stick with it.
I actually switched to the sword and shield and have posted all of my best times with it, and rarely cart anymore. For one, being able to sprint while using items is crazy useful. Need a mega potion? Start chugging and sprint away to stay safe.

Your bread and butter is pulling back on the left stick and holding circle after any attack. You'll do a leaping sword smash that, when it connects, will launch you into the air. From there, hit triangle on the way down to do slashing mounting damage or circle to do a shield bash for KO damage.

That, and you can be relentless with the attacks with the sword. It's not flashy, but I carted so many times trying to charge phials with the charge blade that it feels good staying alive and staying all over the monster at all times. We hunted a rathian last night and I think I mounted her 4 times, each time knocking her over for my buddies to lay into her.

Yeah, I love that circle charge attack with the sword and shield. It definitely helps with mounting. I’ve narrowed it down to that, the charge blade, and the switch axe. Just gotta keep learning the combos and which one works the best with each monster.

One thing for sure is all weapons are viable and you don’t just have to stay locked into one

Right now I’ve just been using the hammer since I have always loved knocking a monster senseless for a bit lol

Yeah, the hammer is a blast. I was using it in our group hunts last night and the KO damage on the head is really useful. I kept knocking everything out then smashing their head with the big bang combo. Definitely fun to use.

As of right now, I've spent a lot of time with the SnS, charge blade, bow, and longsword with a dash of switch axe and hammer. They all have their uses, and I've managed to keep them upgraded for the most part so they're all viable. So far, the charge blade is definitely the strongest IMO, but I struggle with it on faster monsters.

                        I'm on PS4 Pro.

                        Do I go...

                        Resolution
                        Framerate
                        Graphics

I’ve heard most there isn’t a to big of difference

I just picked resolution. I’m on Xbox One X though

Still figuring things out but this game has taken over my Sunday. Never really saw myself in the past playing this type of game and I have been missing out. Addicting as hell!!

                            Still overwhelmed though

Yeah the point of the game is to overwhelm you a bit. It makes figuring everything out a lot more rewarding over time.
