Can anyone give me, or point me, to a basic tutorial? I can see the appeal of the game, but man I'm just lost even with the basics like crafting and combat.

The world is beautiful and the control scheme seems basic, but its just not clicking for me.

I've been doing alright so far, but I'm just responding to SoS and grinding out the bar that fills up (don't wanna spoil what I'm searching for, but if you've done it you know that bar you gotta fill up while you 'search' for the next quest.)

I be HOT DAMNED!!! The light bulb has finally come on for me with this game. Have about 10 hours in and I’ve been totally lost. Been watching YouTube videos and Twitch streams with no success and it’s finally starting to come together. So glad I didn’t give in to frustration. I still have a long ways to go but now I can see the light.

I built the dual blades out of it first, since slower weapons do better with actual damage than status effects.

Lots of little hits build up status faster than slower big hits. That said, I'm still running around in (level 8, granted so it's 44 defense per piece) Odogaron armor. Also trying out the lance now, since I farmed some ore deposits and made a Blacksteel Lance to check out. Seems nice once I get the hang of blocking and back/side-stepping with it.

I made the CB out of his gear and don't regret it. It hits like a truck, looks awesome, and blast is great. I've been using a high level lance lately but I plan on making the second Zorah CB once I get the last material.

Would love the game more if it wasnt for the lazy game mechanics. This is coming from a long time dark souls player.

Warp jump attack the defy physics and warp around trees and stunning effects that you cant dodge infuriates me.

You can avoid all stun effects, it just takes later gear.

I just realized that I think you can replay that mission before Hard mode and farm him more. Or maybe I am wrong there.

How far along is everyone?

Is there kind of an open exploration mode? I've just been going on the quests as they populate. My heads spinning out here. The world is gorgeous and the combat is enough to keep me interested, but man there is a lot to process.

Have used the chain bow and the dual blades thus far, upgrading each as I can.
