Entirely online, yes, but thankfully it can still be played entire solo in a single player type experience. So as long as I'm not forced to put up with a bunch of other people and PVP'ing trolls every time I get on, I may still be game for it. If I'm forced to deal with other players whether I want to play solo or not, then I might have issues with this.

November 14th, 2018? That is CRAZY. So, that’s like 3 weeks after Red Dead 2. Seems like a risky idea, but not as risky as “always online.” Ok, so I don’t do those kind of games, so can someone help me out on this? What happens when you lose connection or the servers are down? Can you just not play the game, anymore? Also, he didn’t really make it clear that if you choose to do a solo campaign and just play the story, can other players kill you and screw up your game? Worrying stuff. 🙁

The usual preface of Todd hyping games up too much and features and the like not living up to the hype, but damn if that didn't sell me on Fallout 76.

For those who couldn't watch it tonight, here's the entire Fallout 76 segment of the Bethesda conference.

The actual discussion and videos start around the 5:30 mark, though the video for Skyrim Very Special Edition near the start of this video was funny as hell, so it worth a watch in my opinion, lol.

Hate to tell everyone but the transition to always online has been happening for years. Microsoft was ahead of it's time when they were going to do it with xbox one but bone heads wanted to complain.

Next console cycle wouldn't surprise me if most of them were the always online set up.

I was mostly being fictitious. Given the freak out over online.

I have to disagree with that. I think the majority of people still prefer to play single player/offline games, so I don’t really see “most of them” being always online. They would lose way too much money with a decision like that.

I'm going to have to disagree.

There's a BIG difference between a game being always online and a console being always online.

Always online games have been around for a while.

I also wouldn't consider the concept of bricking a console when it's gone 24 hours without being connected to the internet to be something that's "ahead of its time."

While I recognize that an internet connection is, and was, becoming almost essential for gaming, it shouldn't be forced nor required.

I have sooo many questions about single player mode. Will we get to use VATS when we're playing alone or is that history? Will there be other NPCs in the world? Side quest givers? Fast travel? Will we have to worry about other players coming and screwing up our settlements just for the hell of it? I think I'm going to have to have those answered before I make a decision about buying.
