Even though I'm not an online player much I welcome a new direction for Fallout. The franchise needs new blood. The stories are great but the game engine is so outdated I'd have a hard time buying a FO5 if it just followed the same recipe with some if the same graphics from as far back as FO3. Spin offs aren't going to kill the franchise otherwise Tactics or Brotherhood of Steel would have done that.

I think most would agree that the engine needed to be scrapped. It's 14 years old if not more. A new, updated engine is what we all wanted. An always online Fallout that removes all human NPCs is not. I'm fine with spinoffs if they don't really interrupt the progress on the next major title in the series, but right now it's not looking like we're even close to a Fallout 5 within the next 3-4 years, so when this is the only Fallout game we'll get in 7-8 year span, it's hard to not complain when it isn't even close to what brought everyone to the franchise.

Like I have stated already, I'm not writing it off. I'll continue to follow the information flow, but I honestly don't see how this game will be a major hit for the franchise based off of the base that plays it. Hopefully this is their way of testing out new features that are going into 5 and are going to implement what is successful into FO5 in what is hopefully on a modern engine.

I'm with most on the no raiders complaint and only humans. This right here also doesn't make me super happy. No punishment is good in some games but when Fallout to me was always "survival-ish" just it removes some of the appeal.

That is just another thing in the long list of info we have about this game that muddies the water. I truly have no idea what they are actually aiming for with this game.

Sounds like they want to jump into the online action and are using the Fallout lore to support the story.

This is another game that I don't think has any intention of being like its predecessors. It's trying to be part of a new genre and attract that crowd and potentially future buyers of Fallout titles.

From what I've read this was initially an extension of Fallout 4 that they then changed to a full title. Or in other words "everyone is making money off these online games, we should charge $60 for this."

I'm with everyone that's confused. The second I think I understand, some other piece of info comes out that changes that understanding. I really want to like this version of Fallout, but I'm finding that to be increasingly difficult.

That sounds exactly it. Sounds like a multiplayer expansion for 30 bucks that grew to a full separate game.

I don't blame them for wanting the market (everyone does) but I'd really like for them to explain how the gameplay and all that actually works...it may not be as crazy as we think, but they haven't said crap yet.

I don't think they even know yet. They do admit the game will change as gamers tell them what they like or don't like.

There is a petition going around on change.org to get Bethesda to add a single player mode. It is already creeping up on 12,000 signatures! I added mine, today. Who knows if it will change anything, but at least they'll be made aware of how the fans feel.

I was thinking the same thing. They've been very open about it evolving over time.

It’s SOLO player mode. You play missions alone, but you can still see other players and they can still screw up the game for you. This is a petition to have an option to be completely alone and I think maybe to add an offline mode. Can’t remember off the top of my head.

You'll get a code that you input on Bethesda's website and then later down the line apparently we'll all get another email as to how to actually download the beta.

So much info still popping up in various ways. One of the larger gripes has been how every players location will always be seen by on the map. Tidbit comes out today that if you crouch, enabling stealth mode, your dot fades from the map quickly.
