Thoughts? I don't even search the game and keep seeing rants about the game on YouTube.

I hate to sound bitter, but I genuinely hope this game is a flop and they never try something like this, again. I'm sure some will probably enjoy it, but I want the old "lone wanderer" Fallout back. This game just seems so wrong.

Lol, welp I TRIED to play the beta but for whatever reason it ended at 8pm that night. Didn't get on until after that so I didn't get a chance to play [emoji107]

I don't hope it's a flop, but I get the point. I really want Fallout 5....I wish they could have done a "Fallout New Vegas" type version on the Fallout 4 engine instead. You know 5 will get its own new thing because of how janky the 4 engine is.

To each their own, you don't have to like it l. I just don't see how the game failing would be any good for anyone.

I couldn't be more excited. I'm not a die-hard by any means, and totally understand where those who are may not like the idea. Personally, and with my couple friends whom I regularly game with, this is like a dream come true. A co-op Fallout experience sound's pretty cool to me.

The one thing that sticks out to me that would break immersion though is no human NPC's. I get the premise and all, but I think they may have made a mistake there. Won't break the game for me, just something I'd wished they'd change.

                Re: Fallout 76

I understand what you mean by wanting it to flop. We just want the developers to see with hard evidence that this isn't what the majority of their base wanted. From everything I've seen online that seems to be the case. It is one of those weird games that no one was really asking for, but curiosity will lead to us keeping tabs on it. The thing is, when you do a game like this that no one was asking for, you have to knock it out of the park. Bethesda is not a developer I would expect to be innovative and knock this type of game out of the park.

What irks me the most is that they are "wasting" this setting on this game. If they had Fallout 5 with all of the issues of the past two games on that janky engine, but it was set in the Appalachian Mountains, I'd be all over it. But nope, they go and make..... this.

NSFW language, but a great display of the quality Bethesda always brings to the table.

                    Fallout 76

Was watching a stream earlier. It looks pretty fun. Just not sure I want to take it on solo and I’m not done red dead yet so I might hold off a bit. If a couple people on my friends list get it I might bite this weekend though.

                      Re: Fallout 76

Since they opened the servers early I got to play for about 2 hours with a buddy last night. It was fun and I look forward to playing again.

It was literally Fallout 4 Multiplayer in a new setting. Almost felt identical, down to the songs on the radio. So I can TOTALLY see where the more hardcore fans could be unhappy with this game.

But the multiplayer and joining friends and their server was seamless. I'm looking forward to playing more and seeing how the game and PvP evolves. Some things are rough around the edges, like usual, but I expect the experience to get smoothed out.

Overall I had fun and am looking forward to getting back on, this time with 3 of us tonight.

Seems like it’s a game you pretty much can’t play a lone so I’m expecting it to get hammered review wise. I can’t even find any legit reviews as of now and that’s never a good sign.

I played solo both in the Beta and for several hours last night and enjoyed every bit of it. I had fun killing ghouls, exploring, salvaging, creating weapons and armor, and building my camp. While there are no human npcs, there is still plenty of story for you to follow. I cannot comment on playing with others, and I may try it at some point, but my solo experience has been fun. I did have one situation where a ton of ghouls were coming at me and another human player helped me get rid of them. I gave him a wave, he waved back, and I went on my way.

What happens to your camp when you are offline? Can it get totally demolished by other players.

And what do I lose if I’m playing solo and get jumped by a group of 3?

If you can help me with these details I would appreciate it.

The camp stuff really bugs me, I don't really understand it either, even after reading a friends impressions:

                              - Rebuilding. So you just spend an hour or so building up the perfect camp around this copper deposit you found in the hills? Great! Let's log in and see how it's...oh. Seems that camp/server wasn't persistent and someone ELSE built a camp there while you were offline. No biggie, you see a friend is on a different server so you switch servers to them and find...oh, now there's NO camp here. See, you logged out on a server where you didn't have a camp set up. Which means that now you have to build it from scratch. If you're lucky, you built your camp where nearly everything was touching each other and you can sort of re-place that stored building in mostly the same place. If you're REALLY lucky, you remembered to save the previous camp as a "blueprint" before you logged out. But chances are that you completely forgot to save the blueprint and the building isn't placing exactly the way you wanted. So, you just start over again...but not with the parts you'd previously used, because you can't break up the stored parts that are in your stash and you're having trouble getting those parts to attach right to the ground again. Yeah...

                              - Ownership issues. So you did finally get that house set up, right? No problem. Now you want to go craft up some new weapons an...there's someone in your camp using your workbench already. And they aren't actually here anymore. And so you can't use your own workbench. Cool. Well, just build a new one. Oh, you're out of space in your camp, because this isn't Fallout 4 and you only have a small footprint you can use to build up a camp.

You can’t just log in to the same server every session like ark? Losing progress like that to bad game design is a huge red flag for me.
