I'll probably give it another shot this weekend, really gave it just the sitting last weekend and never really got far... just to the first ship and into the next area, but not sure anything will really change.

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Once you get out of that area, it got way better for me. I would say to try to get to 20 to try out the first dungeon. Before that, there's the shiphand which is a mini-dungeon of sorts.Aaron

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
There's a disconnection issue (not sure if its still current as I just logged in for the day) that the build is seeing. I kind of like the announcement thing that they have with dev's, feels a bit more personal with the message rather than "We're fixing things, ETA is sometime in 2014"Aaron

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Yup, sounds like they said something with the AI was programming it?
Regardless, I'm really enjoying playing Engineer so far. I've been playing for 2 or so hours? Got 3 d/c's so far... 2 recently. Outside of that I'm having much more fun this go round.
Only up to level 7 now of course, but still having fun. It seems that when I get D/C'ed though I need to reset some of my settings - which I hate doing.badComment

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
I played the Korean version for 2-3 months before it went F2P.
Was interesting, but nothing stood out to me in particular. Wasn't a bad game by any means, I had fun in it. Didn't like the shift to F2P at all, though, and gave my account away after that. Interested in seeing how Trion handles it for the West. I'll probably download it and futz around in it from time to time, but the second they announced it was F2P (their restrictions seem to suck as well, from what I understand) it became nothing more than a "hey I'm bored of grinding in this game, I'll hop on this for 10-20 minutes to do nothing."
RE: WildStar. This weekend was a mixed bag. I love the game. It's a blast as an engineer. However, technically speaking, it sucked this weekend. Friday was full of disconnects. After they got the D/C problem fixed, the AI/combat response is super laggy. It's all server side too. Can attack and the health bar doesn't update until the enemy is at 0.
I have no doubts they'll get it fixed (it wasn't broken like this before this weekend) but there is work to be done. It was probably a terrible weekend to have a first experience.
I've enjoyed the Settler path, I've actually done tradeskills (I like the way their "discovery" on them is.) Housing seems like it will be a pretty sweet addition, with the way the plots are set up and everything else. It's one of the very few MMOs I've had this much fun with pre-end-game stuff, which is supposedly the games strong point... which makes me a happy camper.badComment

What kind of F2P model were they using? Trion's approach with Rift going free-to-play was one of the more tolerable for me, especially when you compare it to SWTOR.I played the Korean version for 2-3 months before it went F2P.

That reminds me, Defiance will be going free-to-play on June 4th. July 15th for PS and Xbox users will have to wait longer with no date set.
This weekend seems to be bad for Wildstar. Last weekend there were none of these issues with the disconnects and lag response. Last week's major issue revolved around the NPCs who decided to float about 100 ft. above the ground where you couldn't click them.Aaron

Re: Official OS General MMO Information Thread
Korea was a different beast for gaming, since A LOT of their gaming revolves around internet cafes - and XLGames supports some of them (so for say... every dollar that the PC Bang ones bring in, XLGames would receive like 10-20 cents from that.)What kind of F2P model were they using? Trion's approach with Rift going free-to-play was one of the more tolerable for me, especially when you compare it to SWTOR.

I copied/pasted this from ArcheAge Source, it's fairly long so I'll put it in spoilers. They were a great resource for me when I was playing it still. Only changes I made to it were minor formatting changes.
SpoilerOriginally posted by ArcheAge Source ForumsHello guys,
after the news that ArcheAge is officially going Free To Play in July, here are the quick facts abut how the system works. Thanks for Fido for the awesome writeup - beat me to it, stupid work block!
The Free To Play Model in short
Free to play users- can freely choose servers
 - can level up to 50
 - start with 50 labour points (remember that labour points are account-wide)
 - can NOT own houses or scarecrows
 - do NOT regenerate labour points
 - can NOT pay taxes (if you have houses you will lose them if your account goes F2P)

PC Bang Users without ArcheLife- Regenerate 15 labour points every 5 minutes while ONLINE
 - Regenerate 5 labour points every 5 minutes while offline
 - CAN own houses or scarecrows
 - CAN pay taxes
 - Get bonus honor
 - Get 3 lulu coins per hour playing

PC Bang Users with ArcheLife- Regenerate 15 labour points every 5 minutes while ONLINE
 - Regenerate 5 labour points every 5 minutes while offline
 - CAN own houses or scarecrows
 - CAN pay taxes
 - Get bonus honor
 - Get 10 Lulu Coins at first login daily
 - Get 6 lulu coins per hour playing

Home Users with ArcheLife 30- Regenerate 5 Labour Points every 5 minutes while online and offline
 - CAN own houses or scarecrows
 - Can pay taxes
 - Get bonus honor
 - Get 10 lulu coins at first login daily
 - Get 198 lulu coins at the end of the 30 days

Home Users with ArcheLife 90- 5 Labour Points every 5 minutes while online and offline
 - CAN own houses or scarecrows
 - Can pay taxes
 - Get bonus honor
 - Get 10 lulu coins at first login daily
 - Get 159 lulu coins after each 30 days as a bonus

As Fido already explained, PC Bangs in Korea are a huge thing within the gaming industry. Players have to pay around 1$~ to play and some of that many, probably about 20 cents for XLGames, goes directly to Publishers/Developers. That means publishers try to bring as many people as possible into the PC Bangs
Here's how you get lulu coins:
- ArcheLife 30: 198 after 30 days
 - ArcheLife 90: 159 after 30 days, 477 total.
 - ArcheLife Abo 3/6/9: 198 after each 30 days

- 1 LP-Cake: 15 through coupon
 - 6 LP-Cake: 85 through coupon
 - 14 LP-Cake: 180 through coupon
 - 35 LP-Cake: 450 through coupon
 - 50 LP-Cake: 640 through coupon
 - 5 Endless Fantasy(potion): 45 throuh coupon
