Re: best way to tone up?
Eli, I have some tips. Basically, 3 years ago I was like you. My muscles were undeveloped. Here is what you go to do. Buy 2 20lbs dumbbells. I have used that same amount in those 3 years and if used correctly you will gain muscle. Also for toneness, get SPRI bands. I bought the Nike set for $20 and it works wonders.
Like Will said, a flat stomach takes a lot of work. I am no where close to a flat stomach yet. You can do all the crunchs/sit ups you want but you have to do them correctly and slowly for them to actually have a effect. Also pushups are great overall for everything.
I'm like you though, I went a year without soft drinks and lost some weight, now i'm back addicted to them. I can't help myself, I try to get off drinking them but I can't, lol.Comment

Re: best way to tone up?
Working your entire Core (Mid-body)... I'll try and find one of my Mens Health workouts online man... they really helped me out. My chest is slowly becoming more defined... and I'm starting to see the outer ridges of my abdomen finally. It's been a workout and a half getting to where I'm at, but it's slowly coming together.
Also, if you dont' want to get HUGE, but want a great workout, try a Total Gym. It has it's limitations, but just for mild muscle gains, they're excellent. I know quite a few people who have used them to get to where they want to be.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: best way to tone up?
I don't have much to offer that hasn't already been covered. But I can say when doing push ups try to vary what you do by having your feet propped up on an object for a few sets. This way you can target different areas of your pec muscles and have them develop better overall. You could use things like a chair seat, steps, etc. (You may want to lay some old newspaper on top if you're using a chair seat.) These type of pushups are more difficult to do, but once you get used to doing them you will never go back doing pushups entirely with your feet on the ground. Doing pushups with a steep incline of your feet also helps to develop your shoulders.
I personally use a chair seat that's about one and a half feet high and a tray that's about three feet high to prop my feet on. I do five sets of pushups in all, but only one set is done with my feet on the ground.

Re: best way to tone up?
I guess the only thing it could do is slow you down, making your legs work harder.
As far as actually doing anything, I don't know.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment
