We breath worse things in the air, drink worse things in water, and eat worse things in daily diet....compared to walking past a cig smoker and getting a slight breath of cigarrette smoke?

I don't care. If you choose to smoke then you have the option of either standing outside or doing it in your home. I can have an asthma attack from smoke so yes, a slight breath of cigarette smoke is pretty bad.

I'm not saying people should be allowed to smoke everywhere, as it is annoying to most non-smokers to smell smoke, but when you are outside, please. You have to stay indoors because you have to smell their smoke? How long are you standing around the smoker? Or how much smoke do you smell/inhale when walking past?

I mean, sure it could potentially be a little annoying, but what about sitting next to someone, (whether on a bus, in a public place, or in a class, etc) and they stink of BO? Is there a law for that? Or what if someone has their music too loud on their portable music player?

I just don't see how a little bit of smoke can really be that annoying.

Smoking loosens most people up. Makes them mellow.

Yet it's proven that smoking increases your heart rate ten-fold.

BTW, I've smoked only cigars. Never cigarettes. I've smoked Cigars about 5 times and all were at parties or events. And I never smoke the whole thing myself. I usually take a few puffs and pass it along.

Cigars are worse than Cigarettes, BTW.

I understand that, but if smokers have to be outside now, its not like you are standing there breathing in the toxins over and over, you just walk past.

What about when there's a lineup at the bus stop and I'm waiting to get on. There's some dude right infront of me smoking is Marlboro's and as he exhales, the smoke goes right into my face. I give him a mean look and all he does is wink like a moron. What you say is true, if you're walking past somone, there's preety much no way that you will breathe in the toxins because the smoke is getting diluted with the Oxygen. But the situation I posted, is something I deal with at least once a week.

Makes sense. I just really don't think that little second hand smoke is really going to do too much to your health. Its a little different than all the second hand smoking studies where you live in a household with three smokers and get it all day everyday.

I gotta agree with this. Sometimes, these are the same people that say smoking is bad but then turn around and have a few drinks, i think it's the same thing. People want to drink and people want to smoke, yet smoking (and drugs for that matter) are much less accepted by the general public yet people know of the relative risks of both.

i smoke very rarely like when i'm drinking or after eating too much at the buffet, it seems to calm down stomach after over eating like a *******.

I never got addicted to it even though when i was younger i would smoke with friends whenever they were hanging outside. It stinks and makes your breath smell like crap.

But yeh i don't drink much anymore so that means i don't ever smoke, but i do hang out with Mary to relax on a weekend.

Makes sense. I just really don't think that little second hand smoke is really going to do too much to your health. Its a little different than all the second hand smoking studies where you live in a household with three smokers and get it all day everyday.

But if it happens over and over it can really add up in the long run. All I know is that I hate smoke. After working at a bowling alley and now working at a game store where half of the customers smell of smoke, I have had enough.

Smoke is disgusting and I simply cannot stand it. I should not have to suffer because someone decides that it is cool to damage their body, and in the process, mine.

I don't smoke, I never saw a reason to. I never drank at all until last summer. I had been in college for 3 years and hadn't meant many people because I had no interest in going to a bar or something, so I started going out more and having a drink to be social. I don't really care much for alcohol though and its never something I drink for pleasure.

Smoking should be legal inside one's home and on one's property. That's my stance on it. Everywhere else should be illegal. There's already enough crap in the air, we don't need to add more.
