Im all for not smoking inside, but when you are outside, I dont really care if you smoke, its your right and its a legal substance. People that are sitting at bus stops inhaling bus fumes and car fumes are alot worse of then inhaling a little bit of second hand smoke. With all the smog, acid rain and toxins in the air tyhat you cant really get away from, outside second hand smoke is something that shouldnt be a problem. When i did smoke, I would never blow it in someones face, or around anyone for that matter that didnt smoke, and would move out of the way. But people that act like smokers are the antichrist that are smoking OUTSIDE, all you have to do is move away. Its their right to smoke and be outside, just as much is it is yours. Dont act like since you dont smoke you have the right to own the outdoors and tell people what they can and cannot do.

Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
I've been smoke free for over a year now, after having the habit for over 10 years. I haven't even had so much as a puff of a cigarette in this time, and I feel great!
The weight gain is something else, though. Nothing a few trips to the gym won't take care of, but it isn't easy. It's always something...Comment

Thank you. They took away the indoors smoking and thats all fine and dandy but to complain about outside smoking is asinine. You will not get lung cancer from inhaling oxygen dilluted smoke outdoors.
What pisses me off the most is the fact that many act as if its I'm shooting dope up my arm. I can tell most of yall dont go out often cause there is no escape from 2nd hand smoke at a bar or club for that matter. Not teasing you if you dont but dont make it seem like I'm a evil person cause of what I choose to do.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

I agree that smoking isn't the only thing that is bad for you. But smoking can also give other people 2nd hand smoke. The same can't be said, for example, for people who like to drink a lot.
People can choose to smoke if they want but I believe on the issue of smoking inside restaurants/bars, the rights of non-smokers overrides the rights of smokers who want to light up inside.
It makes plenty sense but at the same time, why is this country so health concience all of sudden? Thats what I want to know. For centuries we've been shoving crap up our nose, drinking heavily, smoking plants, taking medicines, eating meat to our hearts desire, having warfare.......and yet, all of sudden, we get smart and realize that damn near everything we do, is bad for us in some way.
So ok, lets make the plea for ppl to stop doing these unhealthy things so they can live longer, feel better and be merciless prick to everyone else who still does these things. Thats what its come down to. Any you know what, they are....or better yet, should be much more harmfull things for you health concience zealots to worry about than catching a wiff of smoke once or twice a week.
So can we please, calm down with the "disgusting habit" talk. I'll tell you whats disgusting, beastiality, thats some pretty foul stuff. What else is disgusting? Cannibulism. Another? Having unprotected sex with someone you just met. One more? Watching an obese woman wear skin tight clothing. GOD!! So if you have "disgust" or a "turn off" for ppl who put a cancer stick up to their mouths then you sir, have more issues than me. I dont knock ppl who do whatever they do as long as its under the law. You may not like what that said person is doing but dont be so closed minded to the point where you're disgusted and you even know the person. Shame on some of yall for being so judgemental.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
I have had the same experience. 10-year smoker and I have been smoke-free for 4 months. I noticed my appetite (and my weight - 10lbs) increased so I began running and eating better. I am now the same weight I was when I smoked and feel terrific. Quitting is the best decision I ever made.Originally posted by TJdaSportsGuyI've been smoke free for over a year now, after having the habit for over 10 years. Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
What point was that? As much as smokers hate to acknowledge it, the fact that someone smokes does say a lot about that person. And oh by the way, it is in fact a disgusting habit. Yes, it may not be as disgusting as having sex with an animal or eating another human being. If that was the point he was trying to make, then I guess I agree with that.Originally posted by VinceFunny thing is, he does make a good point. Mainly, Graphik's response was full of hyperbole and lacking much substance. We, as non-smokers, shouldn't be "judgemental" of smokers? Nobody is saying that smokers are evil, or "bad" people, we're just saying it's a disgusting, unhealthy habit that is offensive to people who don't indulge in it. That's pretty much not disputable and I'm not sure why a smoker would be offended that people think that way....Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

I agree he does have a valid point. It might be the nature of online communities, but people are very quick to judge and grossly overreact in those judgements here.Originally posted by VinceFunny thing is, he does make a good point. I don't see what the point of belittling him like this was.Comment

Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
I don't think smokers are evil but they shouldn't complain about new laws that make it harder for them to smoke around people. If you are standing in front of a building the smoke will not get diluted in the air fast enough for me to not breathe it in. And just because there's already crap in the air that doesn't mean that people should accept more from smokers.Originally posted by GraphikThank you. Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
The thing is, no one would complain if smoke wasn't able to actually affect anyone. No one goes to a club and complain that a drunk person is bothering their health because it can't happen(unless they are in a car). If someone wants to eat alot then fine, it's their body and they can do what they want. However, once your habit starts to affect me in anyway then you need to either stop or get away from me. I didn't choose to smoke, you did and you should accept that people who don't smoke sometimes don't want to be around that.Originally posted by GraphikIt makes plenty sense but at the same time, why is this country so health concience all of sudden? Re: How many of you smoke cigarettes?
A lot of people seem to be saying that you can't develop lung cancer from the amount of second-hand smoke you'll inhale in the course of your daily travels. And unless you hang around a lot of smokers all the time, I'll agree with that.
However, it's not so much health issue as it is an offense issue. It's offensive to have to walk through a thick cloud of smoke near the doors to my building, from the buildup of all the smokers hanging around it. Sure I won't get cancer from it, but it's just offensive. Similarly, non-smokers probably wouldn't like it if people gathered around the doors to a building and spit water in the facers of passers-by. Sure it won't give you cancer or anything, but it's a pretty affronterous thing to do.
It's a health issue, but it's also an offense issue. Most non-smokers don't really like the smell of smoke, and therefore don't like having to walk through clouds of it, having it blown in their face, or being around people whose clothes reek of it.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
