I'd join a gym (or use your school's) and do Rippetoe's Starting Strength.Comment

Its called the 666 workout. 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, 6 months a year.
Consists of:

Lat pull-downs
Incline press
Military press
Abdominal crunches
Day 2 & Day 5
Lateral dumbbell raises
Bar dips
Tricep press-downs
Bicep curls
Abdominal crunches
Day 3 & Day 6
Back squats/Front squats
Leg curls
Leg extensions
Calf raises
Abdominal crunchesComment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Two hours of running? So what does he run 20 miles six days in addition to the other five hours of training? No wonder he's lost most of his explosiveness at age 31."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Lol yeah the 2 hours of running seemed strange. I guess it could mean wind sprints, cone drills, lateral movement drills etc. I wouldn't think he would need to run a half marathon everyday on top of everything else.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Yeah it doesn't make any sense to me.
If you're doing HIIT type cardio (which IMO he should, there is no point to long-distance jogging/training as a basketball player) then you're certainly not going to be doing it for two hours. Even one hour I could see.
I'm surprised there isn't an hour of stretching blocked in each day BTW."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
I'd say finding a way to load the pushups will do you more good if you can do sets of 50. Use a plate or load a backpack and do sets of 15, raising the weight 5 pounds each day until you get to a weight where 15 takes all you've got (or its dangerous lol).Comment

Are you new to lifting CJP? If you are google Rippetoe's starting strength, it's a great program to get the basics down for a beginner.
This is a good shopping list: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/begi...pping_list.htmComment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
You may have to lift more than that (3-5 days per imo) and I like plyometric training for increasing speed and jumping ability (i was more into basketball than football though).
You have to make sure you are eating a decent amount of protein and a surplus of calories if you want gain size. Does your school have a lifting / diet program they suggest because lots of schools these days would?Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Need help with cutting some weight guys. I'm currently at 6'0 205lbs. To be honest, i'm not looking to gain size at all. I just want to finally cut some excess belly weight i've been hauling around for the better part of 5 years now. I've been looking into interval training with my exercise bike, as I hear it's great at cutting weight fast, as long as you can handle it. Does anyone have experience or opinions in regards to interval training?
Also, in terms of just strictly losing weight, what should I focus on eating? Cutting out carbs, calories, fat? I'm totally clueless when it comes to dieting, so ANY help in that regard is appreciated.Comment

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.
Some other questions. I've been thinking that about a 2000 calorie a day diet would be a good starting point? I'm looking to drop probably 20 lbs. in 2 or 3 months.
Would a protein shake after I wake up be a good idea to start the day? I'd be getting my exercise in within probably an hour after drinking it (all cardio basically). I just want to make sure that if I am only going with cardio to burn weight, that protein would not impede the weight loss, as i'm reading conflicting reports on using them as part of a diet. Any help with this would be appreciated guys.Comment
