    Fellas,

Regarding the P90x routines, I downloaded an Excel spreadsheet with each workout listed for every day. Here is the list for Day 1:

    Standard Push Ups
    Wide Front Pull Ups
    Military Push Ups
    Reverse Grip Chin Ups
    Wide Fly Push Ups
    Closed Grip Overhand Pull Ups
    Decline Push-ups
    Heavy Pants
    Diamond Push Ups
    Lawnmowers
    Dive Bomber Push Ups
    Back Flys
    Ab Ripper X

    My question:

What is the number of reps per exercise?
Do you do each exercise once?

You go through the list twice cept for the ab ripper. Do as many as you can basically, don't kill yourself the first time through but I go to failure the 2nd time.

Thanks man. I've been doing something similar to this for about three weeks now. I haven't benched in about a month and I feel great.

DC have you tried this? I'm thinking about going to buy a kettle bell tomorrow and starting to do this routine 3-4 times a week. I hate doing abs because my core is so weak, but I know that it's important to do them.

Oh, what size kettle bell does anyone think would be appropriate?

Try it first without a kettle ball, if your core is as weak as you say it is then you probably don't need one to start.

I just did it a few minutes ago (followed by underpants only leg lifts/raises/whatever you call them-the ultimate finisher to an ab workout).

Really if you haven't done ab workouts, just go through it with nothing. Personally, I'm a low budget work outer, so I just grabbed a barbell plate.

thanks auburntigersfan! i've got to get back to working out 5 times a week. i've finished up moving now so no more excuses! i have been working out 3 or 4 times a week though so i'm not totally slacking but i'd like to get back to 5x for sure as that is the most effective.

Hey, Im a 20 yr old who is like 6'5" and 190lbs, Im pretty skinny but have been gaining weight in the 2 weeks since i quit smoking. I want to build and tone but with all the information out there it is difficult to figure out where to start.

If anyone could help me with any tips or resources I would be greatly appreciative. I am pretty good on the diet part because there seems to be more universal agreement about it. But is there a way to build and tone at the same time? and if I decide to build should I do cardio?

But I am mainly confused about a workout routine, with so many different ones with different excercises, I dont know what to do. I saw AA reccomended dumbells esp for tall guys like myself, but past that need help, so any would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

After researching I think I am going to do a workout that is a combination of a mens fitness routine and other routines excercises that is 3 times a week - upper body, lower body, then full body mixed with lots of jump roping, crunches, and sprints.

Once I get stronger to where I feel comfortable doing it, I am going to do the P90X.

Initially for diet I am going to shoot for high protien, lots of carbs, and lots of water with a surplus of 500 calories daily. After that I will follow the P90X nutrition plan.

                          Any comments/ suggestions?

Been lifting for about a decade and over the past few years started lifting like a bodybuilder. Here is a pic of me doing an arnold esque pose I posted bb.com forums a while back-

Anyway, trying to continue to get as big as possible natural, and I find that at this point eating is almost more important than lifting. Trying to take a jogging class my last semester in college so will have to eat that much more. I'm glad to see so many people here are making alot of progress!

man, thought i'd try something different for a few weeks to take a break from p90x. i kinda started my own thabata (sp?) method training circuit and man i is nice and quick. here is what i do:
*each superset is done for 4 straight minutes, 20 secs on, 10 secs off for a total of 8 sets (4 sets of each bodypart)
                              1. Chest movement followed by Back movement (20 seconds balls out, 10 secs recovery for 4 minutes)
                              2. Leg movement followed by Shoulder movement (same as above)
                              3. Bicep with Tricep
                              4. REPEAT

then i do an ab circuit i have done for years. tell you what in just two weeks i am seeing more muscle definition than i have in a LONG time. nice thing too is you are getting interval type cardio training as well and the whole routine takes like 30 minutes total at most...

That's a true statement IMO. Easiest way to think of it is that your body is a machine and needs the proper fuel to run at maximum level. If you put ketchup in the gas tank of your car it's not going to work to well.

It's even scarier when you really focus on junk food and what it consists of, then you're almost grossed out that you're putting it into your body.
