screw these 6 or 8 packs... I've got the whole keg!!!

Realistically though if I was to ever lose all that, I'd absolutely love to have abs for the first time in my life.

Regardless, it's making me feel better about my workouts. How are you getting rid of the bottom layer of fat? That's the two of my abs that won't show just yet. I am one of the people with an 8 pack when it shows... but so far, only 6 are showing.

That's the last place that most guys lose fat and it's the first place you put it on.
The only thing you can do is continue with cardio and eat healthy. Basically, you have to lose the fat everywhere else in your body before it peels off the lower stomach.

As far as workouts, do higher number of reps, with lower weights to acheive the "cut" look. As far as eating... I eat a pretty steady diet of chicken (skinless), turkey breast, almonds for a snack, fruits and veggies. I cut out all sugar drinks (pop, sports drinks, etc) and drink pretty much nothing but water and skim milk.
Yes, higher reps at a lower weight will achieve more vascularity. But you can get that look from doing cardio and eating right too.

I'm on a program now where I do alternate sets and boy does it kick your *** and make you sweat.
It's been described in here before but basically you do two body parts at the same time with 30 seconds rest in between sets and 60 seconds rest after doing both.
Eg. Incline Dumbell Press, wait 30 seconds, seated dumbell shoulder presses, wait 60 seconds, repeat.
It takes approximately 30 seconds to complete each press so you'll be doing 2 sets in 2 minutes.

So in the end, I can get in 12 sets of chest and 12 sets of shoulder in 30 minutes. It saves a lot of time so I can do abs and then HIIT for 10 minutes afterwards. Although, I'm sweating so much after the weight training that the HIIT almost seems redundant.

I wouldn't say the bottom layer of fat is disappearing quite yet, but I'd like to believe that having REALLY good eating habits lately paired with busting my butt in the gym is leading to the results I've seen. I really like interval training for burning fat.

        Here's what I did yesterday:
        4 sprints at 1/4 mile (1 lap)
        4 sprints at 1/8 mile (1/2 lap)
6 sprints at 1/16 mile (straightaway)

This was a non-lifting day and I did this about 10am. At 7:30pm I went to this boot camp class at my gym. So I guess I'm pulling two-a-days.

Today I was limited to a crappy indoor track. I did intervals by slowly jogging the turns and sprinting the straightaways. After this I did my ab/push-up routine and then I did an upper body lift. Going to my boot camp class in 2 hours.

I believe these are called "super sets", or at least that's what I've always heard them called. I also only do this. I would NEVER not do them, because I'm always trying to get my heart rate going and have a good sweat when I work out. I like what you're doing.

Is something like Gatorade really that bad for you because of all the sugar? I drink Gatorade after I finish doing weightlifting/conditioning up at the school. Is that bad or should I just drink only water?

Drink Water, unless you are out in training in intense heat in which case gatorade may replenish some lost sodium.

It's not that bad for you if you drink it while working out or right after. Drinking it around the house, however, is probably not great for you. Obviously moderation of gatorade is best.

                        Yes sir... bad... bad stuff.

My achilles heel is Peanut Butter. I know that's prohibiting me from losing the small layer of fat under my midsection... but man... it's so delicious... haha.

It shouldn't prohibit anything if it's natty PB. What kind do you eat?

And yes Stewaat, I was referring to High-Fructose Corn Syrup. It's in ketchup, most marinades, Gatorade and most beverages, etc. Keep away from that junk!

Not only is it terrible for your health, but it blocks your body's sensors that typically tell you you're full. Ever notice how you can eat an entire bag of gummi-worms and feel like you didn't eat a thing? That's HFCS at work. The devil.

Ah, that is bad. Try the Smart Balance stuff (I think that's a nation-wide brand by now) or just go to a local natural food store. It took me about a month to get used to, but now I couldn't go back to the sugar-filled crap if I wanted to. I absolutely love the natty stuff.

Yeah, the nearest natural food store is around 60 miles away. I'm gonna hit up Kroger and see if I can find some. That is the only "bad" thing that I still eat, and I know that it's keeping my spare tire underneath the belly button... I just can't stop though, lol.

I can adapt to the natural I'm sure, I just have to find a store that carries it.
