    Re: $80 a barrel.

I am an American and I have no sympathy for Americans crying about gas prices. Stop driving so much and, more importanly, stop driving so much in GIANT SUVs!! How dare anyone driving one of these bohemoths for no practical reason complain that gas prices are high?

I hope gas prices keep going up because it's the only way this country will change its irresponsible behavior. There's no reason people couldn't bike more, walk more, ride mo-peds/scooters, etc. like they do in a lot of other countries. Instead, we drive gas-guzzling, giant vehicles for no reason other than there's some stupid unwritten law that as soon as you have a kid, you need to buy a giant SUV.

I spend about $25 a month in gas. I drive a Saturn Ion 2. If you don't like gas prices get a smaller car or ride a bike and get some exercise.

        Re: $80 a barrel.

Personally, it doesn't bother me. I have to go to work, I can't take public transportation as there isn't any available on my route, I can't bike it or ride a moped 25 miles down the interstate to get to work, so I drive.

It costs me about $40 every 1.5 weeks. That's using 87 grade when my car manual states 91 or above. I don't think it makes much difference and I'm going to sell this car within the next year so I don't care. Anyhow, that's close to $100 per month. It would be nice if it was cheaper, but not a big deal IMO.

Some people just get annoyed because $3+ a gallon is an inconvenience to their plan of riding their fat, out of shape butts around in their SUV from strip mall to strip mall, maxing out their credit cards on thousand dollar TVs to keep up with the Joneses.

And every American that can drive drives a SUV that complains about gas........ As it has all ready be posted in this thread...America has a crappy Public Transportation System. A lot of us can't "bike" 25-30 miles to and from college, another 10-15 miles from work. In other countries their Public Transportation System is way better than here. Not only that a lot of people use gas for electricity in their homes. Comparing apples to oranges, and a lot of generalization in your post.

Yeah it really doesn't bother me. I'll pay. That's just how it goes. Prices will always change. Just look at how much you pay for a video game now. It won't stop me from driving, and I won't even drive less. If I have to go somewhere, i'll go.

Yeah some people but many others have to drive to work, school, or wherever else and it's not feasible for people to walk or bike everywhere. And people driving SUV's have nothing to do with the ridiculous rising gas prices.

How'd we get from rising gas prices to out of shape people and their economic irresponsibility of buying thousand dollar TVs to keep up with someone named Jones?

The bottom line is, people remember when they paid less than 2 bucks a gallon for gas. Now, in some places, it's over three. If you live in an area where you drive considerably out of necessity, you're gonna feel it at the pump. And guess what, people are gonna squawk about it. Nobody is gonna pay MORE for something and not complain about it.

Of course it does. As demand increases, so does the cost. It's simple supply & demand. There's a limited supply, the demand increases (because of all the driving and driving of SUVs), so the cost goes up.

I take public transportation to work. I'm amazed at how many people in the Boston area don't. I see nothing but cars (mostly SUVs with only one person, the driver) sittiing in traffic on the highway. Sure, it's incovenient for me to take public transportation (it's late, I have to wait outside in the cold), but I feel good about it because I'm not adding to the traffic problem and couldn't care less about gas prices.

Just pointing out the ridiculous priorities of people and the root of the problem...

They cry over paying $3 for gas, but have no problem paying $3k for a TV to watch "Dancing with the Stars." The days of $2 a gallon for gas are over. Deal with it.

That's really not even what's happening. People speculate that the prices will go up which in turn causes the price of gas to go up, if it was simply because of supply and demand then we wouldn't see gas all of a sudden go down and then shoot back up. Anyway, not everyone can take buses, walk, or ride bikes to work.

350z. Gas tank is huge so that is one reason it was so much. Think it's 20.

I kinda understand where born bad is coming from... When I lived in NY, I took the train to work. It was just the way to go. Nobody in his right mind would think of driving into the city. But everyday you'd hear about crazy traffic jams in and around the city. I'm not gonna judge those people for driving, I'm sure they had a perfectly legitimate reason for driving into the city at the height of rush hour... But I knew some attorneys who would drive in from Westchester, Connecticut or Long Island instead of taking the Metro North or LIRR like the peasants did, regardless of how long it took or how much gas it wasted. But now I live in an area where I have to drive whether I want to or not. Fortunately, it's a 10 minute commute, so I'm not chugging gas.

Yea, cause its just that easy to go buy a new car. Being a poor a$$ college student I don't have many options. Trust me, I walk to class everyday which is about a mile 1 way. Work on the other hand, I have no choice being 30 miles away. I have a Sebring so it isn't too bad on gas. But to act like gas prices aren't BS is stupid. They may not effect you as much but do affect others. Especially the little guys. And usually people that can afford Hummers don't have money problems, so they could care less.
