With that kind of logic you might as well kick 7 year olds in the face when they won't listen to you. You never know when a 7 year old has a gun in their shoe. Imagine if the 7 year old is on drugs and they grab your gun! I say punch and kick all emotional 7 year olds in the head because they deserve it.

Don't be ridiculous with kicking a seven year old in the face. But I will agree with you that if a 7 year old was resisting then yes and officer would be justified in trying to get him/her under control using force that is necessary for the situation.

Once again, an officer does what is minimally necessary to get a situation under control and dangerous situations can occur in the most laughably minimal threats as seen by us civilians. In this case the officer continued to try to simply cuff the girl for several minutes, it's only when she bit him that the situation escalated.

It's not about, as you suggest, using maximum heavy force on any perceived threat, no matter how unlikely, but rather about using minimal force as dictated by the situation to get it back into an officer's control. And that is exactly what was done here.

I was simply responding as to why you would call this kid, who you don't even know I am sure, a "skank", for whatever reason. I've never heard someone use the word "skank" to describe a positive attribute of someone. When I hear it, I think of words like "slut", "whore", etc. So I say to myself, what has this child done to earn that title?

I'm going into the police academy in a few months and hopefully (God willing) when I become a LEO these are the kinds of things I HOPE I'll be able to avoid even though I know I won't be able to.

The officer is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If he refuses to use any force with her, he puts himself and the perp at risk and when he does what he's taught to do, stuff like this happens.

It's a lose/lose situation.

Agreed. In all honesty, I don't feel bad for the girl. She resisted, she bit him, she refused to listen to instruction, and she paid the price for it.

She was resisting arrest, that doesn't mean that things had to go down how they did. She was in no way a threat to that police officer so how is what he did justified?

If it was my daughter or my sister, I would have been embarrassed by her actions. As far as getting what she deserved, I am not really in that boat either, but I also don't find the behavior of the officer to be inappropriate.
