I think she had it coming. And to those who are saying there's no way she was a threat, never underestimate the effects of hysteria/adrenaline. As some of the posters with law enforcement experience have mentioned, someone in a panic has many times their usual strength.

Yeah, because if I have a stick, gun, pepper spray, and physically tower over the person I'd have a lot to fear. A crying 80 pound 15 year old girl.

I give police the benefit of the doubt in most situations. Hell, if it hadn't been a curfew charge (she's walking around past bed-time...must be up to trouble), even if the person was 6 foot and 150+ I might give him the benefit of the doubt.

They have one of the toughest jobs but that doesn't excuse them in all situations.

I agree completely. Like I said earlier, if all cops acted like this we'd get 15 videos like this everyday. Most of them know how to do there jobs and avoid punching and pepper spraying 80 pound 15 year-old girls.

The fact that he was able to get her under arrest and eventually control the situation shows he knew exactly how to do his job correctly.

Pepper spray wouldn't have come in to play until she assaulted him. Just because she can't control herself and her emotions, no matter what her size or age is, doesn't mean she gets preferential treatment.

She was caught, she was going to be arrested one way or the other, all she did was make a bad situation worse. That falls on her. Hopefully she learned a valuable lesson from this.

Exactly. He punched the chick once she bit him. As much of a struggle it was, he showed incredible restraint until the girl BIT HIM.

She made a bad situation worse. I guess he should have just scolded her once she tried to take a bite out of crime. "Now, now, didn't you mother ever teach you it's not nice to bite someone. Shame on you!"

Not all people resisting arrest are created equal. To be honest I'd need to see the entire interaction between this guy and the girl to come to a 100% conclusion in this matter. I need to see what he did up until this point. The only way he is even 1% justified is if before this interaction took place he tried to do everything he could to calm her down, this is why you don't try forcing a 15 year who is freaking out to put her hands behind her back, he needs to help get her to a rational state of mind (I doubt he did anything of the sort) before acting this way or things like this can happen.

How about being responsible for ones actions? I never called her a skank, I actually don't see how she could be called one.

But this, "oh you broke the law and now you don't want to be arrested, ok lets talk about your feelings" stuff is ridiculous. She got caught, was going to be arrested, didn't want to take responsibility for her actions, so she assaults a cop, and now the cop is to blame stuff, is beyond belief.

Fact of the matter is, it was a curfew violation. Should have gone with the cops, so her parents could come pick her up, game over. Now she's going to probably see some other charges, that are much more serious.

How can you say that for sure? The video we see all ready has one cuff on her (from trying to be nice and cuffing her before realizing she's not going to let him, so he lead her to the video just in case?). We don't know what lead to the cuffing, we just see her resisting arrest. From what we see, he was justified...I'd like to know all the information, is there a full news article outlining the rest?

Oh yeah, putting your arms behind your back causes a great deal of pain. Maybe if you're obese but that girl hardly is obese.

If she doesn't do what he is commanding her to do then he must either continue to attempt to subdue her or take it to the next level. She chose to take it to the next level. It's not about provocation so much as as necessary response.
