But that's not my point.
How could Nascar drivers be the best, if they're driving stock cars and turning left, compared to F1 who drive the most advanced cars on some of the toughest tracks? In the rain, no less??Last edited by Segagendude; 04-13-2015, 07:56 PM.Comment

True, but I like to think it's short for "champions of the (insert sport) world".
But that's not my point.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
The United States (and Canada) have the biggest football league, biggest baseball league, biggest basketball league, and the biggest hockey league in the world. The winner of those leagues is most definitely "world champion." These leagues are the best and the most influential in the world for their respective sports, with the best athletes in those sports competing at the highest level for those sports.
When I see people say this, I always think of it as just a backhanded insult toward the country and "our arrogance" and trying to satisfy some urge to be "modest" and "fair."
I have literally zero problem with referring to those teams as the "world champions."Last edited by TheMatrix31; 04-14-2015, 04:50 AM.Comment

When people don't follow up.
Two weeks ago I applied for a job in store. The lady said she would be doing interviews last week. No call last week. I call yesterday morning and she says she wants to interview me, and will call me later in the day to schedule an interview. She never called me.

The key to life is when you get that glimmer of hope, you attack and don't let it slip.
I used to be patient and understanding, but have since realized that there's an infinite amount of reasons why someone won't get back to you. My patience and understanding was really just an excuse disguised as an explanation. The world doesn't work that way.
Obviously, you have to stay within reason. Calling/emailing every 5 minutes is harassment, but if someone promises you something and doesn't deliver, you're absolutely entitled to butt in and remind them that you still exist and are waiting on an answer. At worst, it keeps your name/number at the top of the stack so to speak, so even if you continue to get silence, you'll be remembered as the one who wouldn't give up reasonably.

lol ya. I hate whenever that happens. Doesn't matter who it is. Friends, family, coworkers or other, at least do the thing you said you'd do and not completely forget/ignore it.....
I'm usually patient about those types of stuff, but lately starting to just stop being patient cause that's not really getting me anywhere. Either gotta drop it, or do something about it.Comment

How long it takes for EA, MLB The Show, etc to "connect to the servers."
I don't even play online, I'm just connected because I watch Netflix on my PS3. It's a pain to have to disconnect. Can't even do it in-game, has to be in XMB -- is that what they still call the dashboard? LolNHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
People who are late to arrive at a prearranged time. Especially those that do it continuously.
Once in a while.. ok but we have some family and a friend who you can count on will always be 15 to 30 minutes late..if not later... every single time.
So yeah we've started setting a time to meet well before we actually have to.
I have some friends who give me a hard time about always being early (all in fun)
If I say I will be somewhere at 1pm I make sure I leave early enough to get there on time even in the event there's bad traffic etc..
So if everything is smooth I'm there 15-20 minutes early.Joshua:

Just not little kid parties. I'm allowing us to get to those late because if we get there on time we're always the first ones and it's soooo boringNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm the same way, Skyboxer, always early. My girlfriend's family is always late for things and it gets really annoying(she's at least on time, usually). My dad was in the military and he was always very punctual, though he kind of had to be. He and my mom were always on time, if not early, for everything. I think that definitely rubbed off on me as I can't stand even being a few minutes late.
I do try to cut people some slack because things happen from time to time, I get that, but when they're constantly late - that's when it gets to me.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
My buddy is bad with being late, it's not a big deal, just annoying. He lives 5-10 minutes away depending on how many traffic lights you make, and he'll text "on my way" and gets here 25-30 minutes later. I don't see the point of telling someone you're on the way if you're not on the way. Just hop in the car, send the text, fire up the engine and drive over.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
