Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Temporary employees aren't part of the union, at least not when I worked for the post office. The regulars would be lazy and the temps would have to work extra to cover for them, then the regulars would bitch about the temps getting 40+ and file grievancesWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Temps are employees of the temp agency and not whoever they are actually working for.
I will say I didn't know they hired temps though.Last edited by kehlis; 02-03-2016, 11:36 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yeah, that sort of mindset is counterproductive and an outdated way to run a business. Just breeds negative moral, and doesn't really help the bottom line at all. In fact it's the opposite, like you said
Also, it's not like people ever get credit for never calling in lol. I've work at my current job for 5+ years and I've called in maybe 3 times. Yet no one really cares lol. I mean, I don't care either, but it really shouldn't just be expected.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Having my backyard be mud pit from all of the construction being done grinds my gears. Of course, it wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have four dogs that are consonantly having to wipe muddy paws.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

In retail and other jobs, but mainly retail you have a lot of part time people working 8 hour days. When I worked at Walmart a long time ago, part time people were working 34 hours a week.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Maybe "temp" is the wrong word because I didn't go through some agency. We were called "casuals" and I figured since we were only employed temporarily the name fit.

Fed Ex and UPS also hire casuals during the Christmas rush.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yeah Post Office hires casuals during the Christmas rush. Your employment is only guaranteed for 60 or 90 days, but if they consider you a good worker they might hire you on as full time. My dad started off as a casual at the Post Office 37 years ago and was made full time. He been there ever since.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
****ing AT&T
My Uverse promos had ended so I had to do the call, mildly threaten to cancel, get back promo dance. Now they want to get people on DirecTV. So I call, do the "I looked at cable prices" crap, and guy comes out of the gate with DirecTV with my internet and phone for $156/month, I ask what sticking with Uverse would cost (don't really want a dish on my house) and he says like $210. Yeesh. So I say I'll have to think about it, he says he noted in my account the offer.
Day later, that price is good and I'd rather not deal with cable especially since Uverse has been stable. So I call, and she says she can't find on my account where there was a note about my offer. She then starts throwing numbers at me, $45 mumble mumble mumble, $20 mumble mumble mumble, $55 mumble mumble mumble, I can't see how he got to that number best I can do is $202 a month. There's no way I'm good with almost $60 of a jump, the ****. So she goes into her dollar mumble spiel and says she can get it to $145 a month, but in 3 months it's going to go up $55. Yeah, thanks. Note that's before they tack on $20 in fees, so in 3 months my bill is going to be $230. My bill had gone up every year, had just crested $200 and I'm just not going any higher.
Ask to speak to supervisor, the guy quoted me $156 so either he ****ed up or this chick didn't know what she was doing. Wait and wait, then finally supervisor gets on, gives me the same quote, then says since I do autopay he can do this, and if I can pass a credit check he can take another $10 off (and I think they were going to try and get me on a two year TV contract, with only one being at a discount). It was all too shady for me, all too damn shady.
So I'm either going to do TWC, or maybe cut the cord but I really don't want to do that until we get some better internet (google fiber is coming as well as AT&T's fiber, and the state is building out fiber on it's own for companies to sell access to, until then it's either 50/5 or a *****ty 75/8). Maybe I will go TWC for a year and by then we'll get some fiber and cut TV service altogether.
*I say ****ty because AT&T does some odd crap with their internet services, like trying to watch some youtube and one video plays fine, another refuses to load, then another video will play fine, and that same one from before will refuse to load. Then it will decide to just drop packets for some reason, and it's not just their copper loop to the fiber because during those times that connection is stable. Do a tracert and sometimes it's fine, sometimes one of AT&T's servers in the chain will just sit there and maybe get to you eventually.Comment
