They are two totally different subjects, but I totally get your point.

I think the difference is that humans willingly put themselves through the rigors of football, whereas animals have no clue whatsoever why they are being hit with a whip and forced to do tricks in an environment full of unknowns to them.

I do believe the game really needs to change or that the players get free healthcare for life or something like that as compensation.

Heh, I do like to think they do, but I doubt it. But who am I to say? Given your username, I'm going to have to assume you are well more versed about it than I am!

Reminds me of that Brian Regan stand-up routine, I'll just jump to the punch line though: https://youtu.be/YAfuON3k_h4?t=8m25s

Trying to think of what else they can do other than just fine the hell out of them. These guys aiming with their heads are practically missiles. It's dangerous, but they are the ones who willingly play the sport.

There's definitely a debate on it. But the fear and pain are real. And it's not all bad. Some animals are fine with it. But I'd wager that most aren't.

I've gone on record here saying the solution could be to take away the padding. Seems counterproductive on the surface, but it would change how the players view themselves. Can't throw their bodies around like weapons anymore.

So because one thing is wrong and messed up people shouldn't try to fix another? Are the same people watching football the reason the circus is shutting down? This is just irrelevant.

Just calling out the outrage a bit....when they even had lawsuits against Peta dismissed and things (I saw an article recently)...I'm fine with the circus if they regulate it more like they do now....it's impossible nowadays to really get away with anything vs. 50 years ago where they could be horrible.

I think more though people just do other activities, the circus is expensive and not needed anymore.

Another wrong thing doesn't make it right, but I don't see anyone yelling to shut down football when former players are committing suicide because of head injuries...Just something to ponder I suppose...

Yeah, I think there's tons of people that want to shut football down or parents taking their kids out of the sport and people not watching. But like it was said, it's a different issue when people are willingly putting themselves in jeopardy vs an animal being forced into it. It's apples and oranges and I think that's why you don't hear the both things from people.

People freaking out that Disney posted a video showing the East Eggs in Pixar movies. Somehow them posting a video confirms that all the movies are in the same universe.

Exactly this is Disney confirming what has been discussed among fans for what feels like at least a decade now, if not longer. And the points in the Pixar theory actually make sense.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

When older people talk down to people my age about technology. Acting like we don't know about VCRs, landline phones, dialup internet, walkmans or anything like that. Last time I checked, wasn't it kids who knew more than adults even back then about how to use that technology? Since when did adults know more about programming a VCR or connecting to internet? And also acting like people don't remember life before wifi or cellphones or DVRs.

Im not that old, or that young either and even I remember all those things..... Probably even better than those older people. I remember my life without any of it. MSN Messenger was the cool thing to use before texting was around, Gameboy link cables were the main way to do multiplayer games with a friend. Eavesdropping on phone conversations while waiting to connect to the internet. Watching TV in class with one of those portable antenna TVs.

And even older technology too like Commodore 64, original pong, record players, cassette players among other things. Might not be my generation exactly, but I'm still knowledgable on all those things and can actually use all better than those who grew up on it.

I can tell you are from outside the USA if you said MSN messenger was cool. For the most part in the USA Yahoo Messenger was way more popular than MSN Messenger.

But anyway, it goes both ways.....You have young people do the same thing you just described to older people on a regular basis. Go to any store and you will see it. Hell ask anybody with teenagers.......

                            That is pretty much judgmental.

We could say the same with young people that stand in the middle of a doorway or hallway in the main path of walking, looking down at their phone while offering a sorry or excuse me.

We took a campus recruiting trip to the Univ of MN this past August with our son. Some of the area companies are collaborating and donating with the U of MN. The university asked the area companies what is the #1 skill students are lacking after graduation.

The answer was presentation skills in front of a group of people at work. So, in the new building at U of MN, the classrooms are structured around sitting with a group of students, the professor walking up and down the middle like a Starship Captain and the students at particular times need to go up in front of class and give presentations.
