Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

My friend posted on FB about a movie they saw got spoiled by somebody entering the theater and shouting how it finishes.

I'll let the action speak for itself regarding how much that would likely grind all of our gears, but frankly I'm actually shocked that this doesn't happen more. In a world filled with more and more blatant trollism, you'd think that there would be those of the real-world variety to just do exactly that. It's not like you have to pay to see that movie again either; just watch whatever other movie you go to see, and before you leave just decide to go through that other film's doors and shout it from the entryway just to get a rise from the audience. You likely won't even get caught, which is one of the main benefits of Internet trolling (doing things without direct repercussion).

It is why I always feared being at one of those midnight screenings when another group just gets out, because you don't know what kind of thing an idiot would say. I believe there were reports of this happening for one of the Harry Potter films (EDIT: come to think of it, it was actually probably for one of the books; any die-hard probably should have known what happens before seeing the films for it to be of serious consequence). It sucks there are people like this in the world, but I'm pretty surprised we don't hear about this more often.

I only go to movies durind week nights. I absolutely refuse to go to the movie theater on the weekends. It's full of young people treating it like a club or people that are just loud and obnoxious. It's impossible to actually enjoy the movie.

Didn't somebody get beat up for doing that when force awakens came out? IIRC?

May have been, maybe that's what I was thinking about. Some film franchise with a rabid fanbase.

Karmic justice though. Don't be a jackass.

I remember watching OS Real Time one evening and seeing a post come across that of someone seemingly posting a MASSIVE spoiler for GTAV. Turned out to not be true though.

Yeah I live on Real Time normally (it's a big reason why I spend so much time here) but I definitely have to abandon it temporarily before big releases. Too easy for someone to ruin something and I'll see it before it even gets deleted.

Gonna have to be careful with Red Dead 2 coming up.

My other pet peeve with Real Time is it not filtering out people on my ignore list. And when I see their posts I'm usually reminded very quickly of why I put them on ignore.

The first time I discovered OS Real Time, I almost immediately ran across a spoiler for something like a show's episode. Realizing that it doesn't recognize spoiler tags, I figured it's just not for me.

Now I live in my User CP with a Chrome auto-refresh extension set for every few minutes and see when my subscribed threads get responded to. It makes me miss some other threads every so often though so I do make sure to venture whenever I can, but it beats being spoiled in Real Time.

                    Very cool feature regardless.

People always been that way though. So I am not surprised. People have always looked down upon retail workers and service workers, especially if they are beyond a certain age working there. Being that he is an actor just added fuel to the fire. Too many people think if you not a manager by a certain age and you working in retail then you must have done something wrong in life. Either you are a high school drop out, didn't go to college or ex-con.

I saw it first hand when I worked in retail. So I am not surprised at all.

I don't think this is true though. I don't think that, aside from ultra rich snobs that have always breathed only their own air, that "we" have denigrated any type of legal employment...other than lawyers. People have always been rude, demanding, and absurd toward service workers, but it's a different matter to point and laugh at them like they are zoo animals to behold.

This is what they’ve done, they do, and will continue to do. No amount of being VERY MAD will change it. The best thing people can do is ignore them.

Actually, imo, that's the worst thing people can do. It normalizes this behavior. Being VERY MAD changes a lot of things actually. Pretty much everything that's ever changed has been spearheaded by VERY MAD people fed up with something.
