We have a runoff here in Georgia for the senate, and we have had campaign workers come to my door almost every single day for the last 2 weeks wanting to ask questions. I have a no soliciting sign on my door that normally works for people trying to sell me something like new internet service or lawn care. These people all ignore the sign though, and when I remind them to please respect it they all claim "oh I'm not soliciting".

So, I've finally added another sign next to my no soliciting one to help them out.
Definition: Soliciting - ask for or try to obtain (something) from someone.
ex1: "he called a meeting to solicit their views"
ex2: "historians and critics are solicited for opinions by the auction houses"

edit - This post really goes for solicitors of any kind. A couple of years ago we experience a streak of people coming by to sell us lawn care, new internet, or other services. Probably a dozen instances over the course of 3 weeks. So I posted the "no soliciting" sign on my front door. We have no city ordinance against it, but most people have respected it since then (I've seen people walk up, look at the sign and then walk away). These campaign workers all ignore the sign though, either intentionally or by ignorantly believing that asking polling questions is not soliciting.

I rarely get anything political related here in my area, but I get the weirdest solicitors. Like dudes trying to pitch me landscaping, solar, that just show up with a tablet. They just end up walking off and I never see a car or where they go

It's crazy that despite how successful the movies were, it might have been better for the franchise (from a storytelling perspective, not a money or mainstream popularity perspective) if the series was a streaming series.

Imagine 8 seasons of the show instead of 8 movies. You could probably do several episodes per book at 40+ mins an episode.

I'm still hoping one day we get an actual streaming series about the first wizarding war days. Give us a full series about everything from Riddles backstory, James/Lily/Snape/Lupin/Black as kids, Voldemorts rise to power, all of it.

The very end of the series will be the moment the 1st movie/book began.

That could definitely run at least a few seasons, and for sure it'll be real popular.

The first movie came out so long ago that I got it on VHS for Christmas.

I don't think streaming was in the cards.

That's what I'm saying though. Obviously it's one of the biggest movie franchises ever, but imagine if it happened 15-20 years later instead of 01 or whenever the first one came out.

trying to take just one drink container lid from the stack, at various fast-food restaurants, and doing so while not touching other lids from the same stack. infuriating

I never really paid much mind to it pre-March 2020, but nowadays I feel like I'm committing a fauxpas on the scale of or worse than double-dipping potato chips into a dip bowl

I do this at work too, more so if people are watching.

You touch more than one to get your one, but putting back the ones you touched looks bad. Throwing it away looks bad too.

Expensive candles. I got a candle in a gift exchange and it got oohs and aahs because it's a $35 candle apparently. Well that's fine I like candles, but even after burning for 2 hours it barely puts out any nice scent. I have some from Kohls that were $5 and are 10x better.

Not really frustrating, but more of an annoyance.

When you want advice on stuff online, but the only people you'll get help from are the hardcore/picky users of the product.

Yes, they'll know the top tier thing to get, but you're also not going to be using it or caring about it on the level that they do, and they make anything less than the top tier (and most expensive) products seem like garbage.

You can be like "whats the best __ for under $100". Their answer is basically "don't even buy any if you're spending that little, it's not worth it, buy ___". Meanwhile, that item costs like $300. Sure, that's a great item, but I was clearly looking for the best quality for lower price since I'm not as picky or hardcore of a user.

                        Maybe I'm cheap but I can't see spending 35-40$ for a candle.

Interesting, I normally get the opposite experience for things.

Whenever I'm trying to find maybe the best GPS, universal remote, Smartwatch, etc. every article is like "Here is the best all around one" and one of the benefits is its price value. I'm sitting there like... but this other one that is $600 more is better, so why didn't you state this one as the better one? Basically, outside of an item that is $4 million because it's plated in gold and has a designer's signature on it, I want to know which one is the best regardless of price. Those articles are much more difficult to find.

Ford engines. I'm sure I've ranted about my wife's Ford Escape before. Carvana had offer for $12-$13k back at the start of the year even though it was really only worth like $6k. Never sold because it was just a commuter car and not for the family. Plus was paid off. Carvana kind of crashed lately and stopped these crazy offers. She originally bought it used for like $18k 7 years ago.

Now the stupid thing is gushing coolant again which is a common issue that Ford should really be sued for. I'm definitely an idiot for not getting out from under this car.

So me being a cheap idiot also grinds my gears

Me neither and I can't see what makes this one special. Maybe if it last forever. It was a $25 gift exchange so they probably either paid $20 for it, or got it from another gift exchange and re-gifted.

                                Spoiler

I know multiple songs will do this time to time, but I just heard this right now and thought of posting about it.
Alter Bridge does this in their most recent album.

Their worst track on Pawns & Kings, called Holiday, has this chorus:

                                I need a holiday,
                                There's nothing left to save
I'll hold my tongue as I close the door
                                Before I walk away
I'll be the first to say
There's more to life than a living
So I'll spread my wings and fly

You'll have to hear it, but basically the scheme would allow the words "door" and "fly" to rhyme. Of course, they don't... and it sounds really awkward, given where they rhyme "holiday" with "save" and "away" and "say."

The worst part is, of course, they very easily could have just replaced "fly" with "soar." Why they didn't, I have no idea.
