This was the worst because you had to hold the analog stick in the direction of the option you wanted to choose, you couldn't just move and select it. I don't know who's idea this was.

I just call, get all the information, then send a follow up email saying “just to confirm what we discussed on the phone”.

Yeah the follow up confirmation is good. For me, getting names and addresses right is so much easier via electronic communication. Accurate (no loss in translation) and accessible since I’m probably copying and pasting to some other system.

I save my calls for the most urgent stuff. I just hate when someone is required to send a form of some sort, but they call. Then it gets forgotten by them and things don’t move because we don’t have the authorizations we need.

When I open up Google, I get all kinds of sports, gaming, and music news. Occasionally I get those ones where someone complains about something from a store on TikTok.

This one is really annoying me because I've gotten it multiple times. People are saying not to use self checkout because Wal-Mart can come back and say you were stealing when you think you scanned something but didn't.

Uh, that's your fault for not making sure it scanned. If it doesn't beep and a new item isn't added to the screen, I scan it again. If it doesn't scan, I get an employee to help.

The wanting to blame others for your actions and lack of accountability is such a gear grinder.

Sitting through infinite email chains only to see back and forth questions and answers that could’ve been answered in a 5 minute phone call without CCing me.

What you know and what you can prove are two totally different things and it's important to have a paper trail.

In my line of work a few days could cost someone millions of dollars worth of production so dates, costs, etc. promised you would want in writing.

I also have a lot of things in motion at once so it allows me to tackle a lot of stuff in a day this way or for something to reference when two years from now something happens and I need to look back on.

If someone gave me verbal permission to go spend $100K I would rather have it in an e-mail and if I have to type an e-mail after the fact I would rather just do that to begin with. I don't mind talking to people on the phone but it definitely can slow me down. I also don't have to recite a bunch of numbers and letters perfectly and it allows for copy and pasting for accuracy.

With today's phone capability e-mail isn't much different than texting. A lot of people I communicate with are in meetings, loud environments, etc. so there's a lot of benefit. Everyone's job is different though.. e-mail usually works best for my brain.

A huge upside of e-mails is that if you actually forget some small details - you have it written down. If you forget something from a phone call - you gotta either call 'em again or request it via e-mail anyway. Might not be a huge issue for some folks, but definitely helps me
Now that you mentioned e-mails, I completely forgot I gotta pick up my andersen hitch for my trailer, almost forgot Wouldn't even remember about it without all this e-mail talk.

I guess I'm the opposite of those people, which is good.

Even side stepping someone (many times becuase THEY won't walk on the right side of the sidewalk/give you space to walk past), I don't want to walk on someone's lawn, but sometimes have no choice.

Or when crossing a street. Some people just blindly do it, walking across someone's curbside lawn just to do it, and go on the other side, walking over someone else's lawn. I just cross at the end of a driveway/curb and to the other sides driveway/curb.

Way back when, we were hanging flyers for work on people’s house door handles. I went out with the GM and he walked across everyone’s lawn as he went house to house. I felt weird taking the sidewalks and driveways but it didn’t feel right to walk on their yards. I don’t know when that courtesy was taught to me, but looks like I’m not the only one.

Postal service gets a pass. They gotta be out there everyday. Take the shortcut. Ha

I thought we were talking about backyards, to which I always hopped the fence to get balls and stuff that we accidentally had go over the fence. My old neighbors complained all the time and as a kid I didn't understand why, but I totally get it now. Feels like an invasion of privacy (as it literally is), despite the quick intent.

Funny enough, I'm trying to figure out my own way to prevent stuff like this.

Best option I've thought of is getting a wiffle ball or practice ball and having a long string knotted through one hole. Ball goes over, just pull it back (or at least close enough to get back yourself).

Regardless if you never talk to your neighbours or you have a good relationship, you still don't wanna just randomly go in their yard, or feel awkward having to ask.
