I never ask for discounts. If a buddy wants to hook me up, cool, but asking is poor taste, IMO.

On the flip side, I love unexpected discounts.

My first job 10 years ago was at Fazoli's. I still enjoy a lot of their food. 2 of the managers I worked with are still there (I don't know exactly their job titles now) but they still recognize me, despite having not lived in the state for ~7 years (and the fact I only worked there for 6 months or so), and give me a 50% discount on food and free snacks (like a dessert item or driinik). They rock, I always go there at least once when I'm home. It's not something I'd ask for, though, and I'd be so uncomfortable asking for it.

I saw one of them at the bar one night and he was like "My sister owns this place!" and talked to her and our tab was free.

Some good people I met when I was working there, despite the downside of me smelling like ****ing garlic butter for an eternity when I got off work. Showering didn't even help with that ****.

Something that grinds my gears about myself, specifically due to my anxiety problems, is when sales/specials don't ring up at the U-Scan and I end up just paying the regular price to avoid having to deal with it. My Kroger has delicious little tubs of nacho cheese @ buy 1 get 1 free special, but they never ring up that way. I have a feeling it's because each tub is priced based on weight so both tubs would have to miraculously weigh the same in order for the deal to kick in.

              Anxiety affects the weirdest things.

Kids today seem too spoiled. I've seen people as young as like 5 using cellphones, tablets and stuff like that. When I was 5, I was lucky to even get to play gameboy(when it was just black and white) and use a computer with dialup internet.

Yeah but you also didn't have the option to use tablets and such. They are a great learning device and a lot of schools use them.

There was a time when my best friend worked at a Subway in the Akron area and every Friday night I would get off work around 7 or so and would go over there and he would hook me up with a footlong and a drink for like 3 bucks. I would usually just stay till the end of his shift which was like 11 and we would BS the whole time. Unless he had to do stuff of course.

Sometimes we would go get a beer afterwards. We were both single at the time so it was pretty awesome. Those were the days man.

And I probably just ground? a bunch of gears with my long pointless tangent.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

When I was looking to buy a house, I remarked to my real estate agent that my brother (who worked for LG at the time) was hooking me up with a sweet discount on an LCD TV.

Nearly a year after buying my house, the real estate agent shows up unannounced one day to "see how things are going." Never mind, I hadn't heard from him since closing. He then casually asks if he can see the TV, so I show him. Then he says his daughter is about to graduate and he wants to get her a nice TV, so would it be problem for my brother to get him a discount.

I tried to politely stall, but he kept calling and emailing over the next few days. So I finally told him that my brother only had one discount, which he used for me. The guy then asked if my brother had any co-workers who would be willing to help him out. I told him no. It was the most ridiculous thing.

A couple months ago, I was working at the store, and I was sacking groceries, when a lady and her kid pulled up. The kid was laying IN the cart playing on his mom's cell phone. He wouldn't move or anything. So I laid the groceries on top of him and went back to my department.
