The left lane is a turn-only, and the right lane you can can either go straight or turn right?

no the fact that it's 5 car lengths away from the actual intersection

It's so wide turning trucks don't crush that left turn lane.

My cousin in Georgia posts scans from her daughter's math workbooks from time to time. I posted one a couple months ago and while that one I could at least understand (though I disagreed with its efficiency) I have no idea what this is even asking or how the images correlate to the mathematical question in the upper right. Its just a big ol 'da **** is that' to me.

I believe it's the third one. 14 dots, 6 of them aren't colored in, 6 is the answer.

The theory being, I think, that you draw out as many dots as is the first number, then fill in the amount of the second, and whatever isn't filled in is your answer.

That's what I thought, but it just seemed entirely too "beating around the bush"/abstract for math. The worded question also threw me for a loop.

Because the worded question makes zero sense.

Since it's third grade, it should probably say: Which answer shows what you see in figure 1?

But a better way to have done it is to actually have a lesson explaining that long form process and then having a question that mentions it.

Like "which answer is the long form of figure 1?"

I don't know. Maybe it's in there. Either way, how it is written says absolutely nothing. It's just mumble jumble. Bless those kids.

That's actually from a 1st grade workbook. I'm not sure how my 1st grader mind would have responded to that.
