Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
When you see a crowd shot of a sporting event and a bunch of people are standing there looking like idiots holding their phones up for every possible big play.
Why in the world would you pay huge money to go to a deciding playoff game, and then view every big moment through a 4-inch screen on your phone?Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Cause they want to capture the moment? Be like "I was there,I have proof!". I don't ever do that, I mean how good will the video even come out? You'll just have a video with the screen moving so much, and abunch of people all around you screaming or something if a big moment happens.
If you feel the need to prove to others you were there there are plenty of other ways to do so...Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
If it did I'm sure people would take pictures and record videos of it, too.
Still, sporting events, family outings, concerts, etc have become a bunch of people living life through a small plastic screen. They will fail to actually remember anything of the actual event and will only have the memento of a picture or poorly recorded video to cherish.

There are other ways to do that, but people always want to just take pics/videos then upload them to social media.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Personally, i have pretty sweet videos on my phone of Mike Fiers' first no-hitter and Jason Castro's walk-off homer two days later.
I still perfectly remember being there in person.Boston Red Sox

The word "Sorry" you can hear it... "Sarr-y" vs. "Sore-y" (probably bad examples of how to say, but I think people'll get it)Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I record the last laps of races I go to on my phone. Not sure why you think you have to watch through your phone. I get it recording, and it's pretty easy to watch and just hold the phone. Races are a little harder than a baseball game or something because you are moving around the track, but I'm not missing anything.
As for a gear grinder: You have a job interview Tuesday afternoon. It ends, the person on the line says, "I look forward to working with you. We'll contact you tomorrow to discuss specifics and onboarding." Maybe I missed something, but that sounds like I got the job... 2 days, now 3 days later, and haven't heard from anyone and have sent an e-mail Wednesday and Thursday afternoon checking in. Either she got overambitious in saying that, but pretty sure she was the one with the final say on who got the job as she runs the account. Even if there was a hold up or someone changed their mind, have the courtesy to respond and tell me. If you went with someone else, I won't like it, but at least tell me. It's just going to make it that much harder for me to agree to leave my current job if that's how they run their company. Or maybe that's how they play the game. Go AWOL for a few days, then give you an offer and you'll just take it because you don't want to wait another few days for their answer to a counteroffer. Luckily I already have a job, but the longer they take, the more time I'll need to make sure the move makes sense.Last edited by Redacted01; 10-16-2015, 06:23 AM.Comment

But, another gear grinder is websites these days. I almost exclusively use something like Tapatalk or a site's mobile app to access it to avoid the incessant ads that plague pages more frequently these days.F-L-O-R-I-D-A! S-T-A-T-E! Florida State! Florida State! Florida State! Wooooo!Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Finally heard from someone, though their answer still sounds like a "buying time" scenario. Some senior manager has to have a final sign off on their offers and they've been out with an illness recently but should be back next week, so maybe the one who said that was not completely aware before she said it. He says I have nothing to worry about and I've talked to this guy enough that I will see what happens. At least I don't have to worry about it over the weekend.Comment
