Ha. We made the switch from Direct TV to Comcast because it would save us 80$ a month, took the X1 box home(new modem works fine) only to find out we weren't activated for TV. Have to wait for a tech to come out later this week, when no one out of the 3 local people and 5+ call center/online people told me about it.

        I'll raise you TWC.

I'm seeing commercials all the time now that they're trying to "improve" their customer service and now have their wait time elevator music available for people to listen/download.

        I mean...stop it.

Meanwhile, I can't get a tech out here to fix my modem that acts up at least once a week and my bill continues to rise each month. I wish there was competition here besides TWC but nothing else bundles with a decent internet service so it's still the cheapest option.

They were quick, efficient and effective. Not words you hear with Comcast customer support. I was impressed and quite frankly relieved when action was finally taken. It got to the point where we couldn't even pay if we wanted to because of hang-ups or disconnections on their end.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

For all of you who hate traffic...try standing in the intersection with a stupid neon vest and having to direct it!

Yesterday it was windy/rainy and it caused a traffic signal/power pole to come crashing down which meant an intersection was out of service. There were live wires in the street and technicians had to arrive. It took them over 8 hours to fix it.

So that means I was in an intersection stopping traffic and trying to work the intersection a couple blocks prior to that intersection. It is a pretty heavily traveled area as well.

#1: I don't want to direct traffic. I don't wake up in the morning having fantasies about standing in the elements for hours without food/water/bathroom while I make you act like an adult and try to trouble shoot your route to where you need to go.

#2: It absolutely down poured on us. Everything was soaked. Hours after the rain I went to lunch and when walking I would leave wet foot prints. When I got up I left the seat soaked.

#3: If you see police cars with their blue lights and sirens on blocking both lanes of travel a certain direction it probably means the road is block that way. Maybe try being an adult and navigating around? However hundreds of cars, yes hundreds, would stop and inconvenience everybody else to try and ask us questions. These weren't emergencies. It was "hey I want to get to lunch up there" or "I need to go home that way".

#4: If I am telling you to turn left, why do you think pointing to the right is going to make it any different? Road is block, officer telling me to turn left...but hey let me repeatedly point to the right!!! Not only that I'll just stop in the middle of the road and inconvenience everybody behind me!!! Win/win, right?

I could go on. Traffic direction is the most infuriating part of my job. All I want is for people to experience what I went through yesterday. It is baffling how people can't problem solve on their own.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I drive maybe 20 minutes a day all within a 3 mile range of my home. The amount of carelessness, disregard, and disrespect by drivers in that short amount of time is appalling, disappointing, and infuriating.

So I'm not surprised at your experience NDAlum. Everyone only cares about themselves and would rather drive right up the dead end/blocked off street then see it in the distance and reroute accordingly. Didn't we all take Driver's Education or pass a driving exam? Why do so many people drive like they're incapable?

To me, it's a commentary on people in general. We all know we're in multiple-thousand pound cars traveling at speeds that can kill you/main you very easily. Yet we can't do something as simple as flick on our turn signal or turn on our headlights in rain/fog. Why is this? I think I know. Because the person themself knows they're going to turn, so who cares if the people behind them or oncoming know?

News flash: turn signals and lights in compromises conditions aren't for YOU. They are for OTHER drivers. But whatever, it's not MY problem. That's the line of thinking.

It depresses me so greatly to know that we care so much about such trivial stuff, but for one of our most dangerous, daily activities (driving), we don't give one **** about anyone or anything.

When that final day comes, I can't say we (humans as a whole) don't deserve whatever is coming for us. We absolutely suck.

My Account Exec. Sends con-call invites at 7:30 in the evening when we were working downtown in DC all damn day and I sat in 2 hours of traffic to get back home. Let me have some time with my family *** hole.....Call was pointless as it turns out.

Not necessarily a total gear grinder but sitting at a red light and the person in the next car is vaping. Looks like a forest fire. Blowing stacks out the window.

I guess it's supposed to look cool or something. Just looks incredibly ridiculous to me.

Yea the amount of smoke/steam/whatever is crazy. I see these devices at the bars all the time and it's such an excessive amount of stuff blown out.

It is always some ridiculous amount of smoke/vapor though.

I don't get vaping and again...not something that totally pisses me off. I just think it looks crazy. Bugged me out when I first saw it (it was a girl nonetheless). And now that I've seen it more often...it's obviously the new thing to do I guess.
