Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Road crews leaving stuff in unsafe places. Was walking down a somewhat narrow and poorly lit stretch of sidewalk when all of the sudden my left shin slams into something. I looked down/back and realized I'd hit one of the bars of the H-shaped base of a "road work ahead" sign that was lying on the inside of the sidewalk against the building. In the dim light I'd only been able to see the sign itself and not the bars sticking out into the sidewalk (being visually impaired didn't help either). Man, that hurt, and I hit it hard enough to rip a layer of skin off my shin even through my jeans.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Several weeks ago I applied for a job online. A couple of days later, one of the top guys emails me about a phone interview. So we schedules the interview, it goes well and they have me coming for an in-person interview a couple of days later, they seemed to be trying to rush things...

So I have a panel-of-3 interview (which seemed to go very well), and a week later I get an email from one of the guys at the interview, saying that they think I'd be a great fit for the company, however at this point they are going through some "transition" process and not sure when they will be able to hire. So I email back and ask them to let me know when they are ready.

Then after several days I decide to see what's going on, so I email the guy back telling him I need to know where things stand so I can evaluate another job offer (which I didn't even have). So the guy emails back after 3 days saying that again he thinks I would be a good fit, but they still don't know exactly when they will be ready to hire, and that if I have another job offer I should feel free to take it.

So I emailed back and told him to let me know when they are done with the "transition" process and if I'm still available, then we can talk.

It's been a week since then and I don't really expect to hear from them ever again. What's bothering me is that at the beginning they were rushing rushing rushing to get me in for an interview. What was the point of that? I don't know what to make of the situation, but me guess is that they had already hired someone and not sure about that person and trying to keep me around just in case. Or they're just toying with people.

I have pretty much used every curse word I have for them, which I would not post here. But it sucks.

Buying brand new Christmas lights last year and this year they don't work. Replacing lights and fuses does nothing.

                  Glitter.

The company Christmas cards that we are sending out this year are covered in glitter. So annoying to deal with.

One of my biggest Christmas pet peeves ever. Cards and wrapping paper covered in glitter.

                    Whoever invented that is evil.

You can't vacuum up all the glitter. The ones you do end up coating the inside of the vacuum with glitter which is also hard to clean out.

I always end up tearing some of it - and left with the rest of it, struggling to find a spot to peel it without 'squashing' the product.
We have some of those same ones in the freezer and I was thinking the same thing the other day. Never had so much trouble with other brands, it's like the paper is too weak so it pulls apart too easily, the ice cream is too sticky so it holds onto the paper better, or a combination of the two.

Usually this is a sign of a company with poor management in place.

Sounds like you may need a job but this place seems like it'll bring headaches very quickly.

I've been on their end where you may like a candidate but simply not completely 100% sold on them. If that's the case, they should just move on instead of stringing you along with false hope.

I don't think they've hired anyone else. They would've easily told you so.
