Kidney Stones.
Had lithotripsy procedure done two weeks ago to crush them so they can pass. Went for a follow up a week ago and everything seemed fine.
Over the weekend I was very sick running a fever with nausea and vomiting. Going back to doctor today as they believe I have a kidney infection from trying to pass the stones after having them crushed.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

How expensive cable/satellite is. I am actually trying to get cable or satellite back, and even when bundling services it's so damn expensive. ATT/DirecTV aren't bad the first year, but after that you are spending $160/m for 50 Mbps and the 2nd tier of channels. Why can't I just pay $100/mo for Internet and TV, and the big corporation can be happy they are getting $1,200 a year from me.

If anyone crosses for any unlawful reason after the tape is up, though, we can get them for hindering, interfering, and/or disobeying a lawful order, depending on where you are or who you're dealing with. There's state law and city ordinance we can enforce in that instance.Comment

Half the time I click on a link to a Forbes article, it doesn't bring me to the article. Instead it looks like it just brings me to their home page. Normally I have to go back and click on it a second time.
Forbes is the only site I know of that does this.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

No, Coke Zero changed their recipe to create their current abomination.
Diet Pepsi also changed their recipe a while back and it became straight up undrinkable for a few years, but now they've switched the recipe back and it's back to basically the way it was.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
We have department caps on hours worked per week, depending on what division you're in. I'm in patrol, so I know my max/cap and the hand-slap that follows when I go over. But supervisors don't give us much choice due to short-staffing and vacations.
This will be the third damn week that I've exceeded the cap by at least ten hours, thanks most in part to short-staffing [as mentioned], supervisors calling me out while I'm at home, and having to stay over fairly often on crazy calls. I don't say no to overtime. Never have, never will, unless there's a family event that I'm committed to. These same supervisors that are calling me out to work will be the ones calling me out for working too much in a couple weeks...
For what it's worth, this week (payroll goes Friday to Friday), I've worked 88 hours. Week before that, 86 hours. So this pay period will be 174 hours for two weeks. I'll claim 24.5 hours of that as comp and the other 69.5 hours as overtime. I can't claim anymore than 24.5 hours comp because that 24.5 hours will max my comp pool out.

Then they changed the recipe so that Coke Zero uses their European formula which tastes more like regular Coke, which is fine for what most people want but for me, since I hate Coke, the new Coke Zero tastes like watered down Coke to me.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Bagging groceries is really the easiest job you can imagine (unless you have a really fast checker and it can be hard to keep up on a busy Sunday with all the customers buying industrial size ranch dressing).
Not to be too harsh, but if a 17-year-old kid can't do this, they are in for 65 more years of heartbreak and failure. OK, maybe that was too harsh. One of the reasons I like to used the automated lanes because nobody bags my stuff better than me.
In general, people don't just magically "flip a switch" and start developing better work ethic when they finally get to a job they deem worthwhile of their work ethic reserve (if that exists). Interestingly, some evidence suggests that people with lousy work ethic and poor job ethics rarely get to any job better than the one they are doing a crappy job at currently, which means they will never have the opportunity to 'flip the switch' even if they could (which, spoiler alert: they can't).
The point of giving a crap at whatever job you are doing presently is it develops a sense of what work is and how to do it properly, which will hopefully serve you well when you move on to more advanced jobs. You learn a lot from low-level jobs, even things as basic as showing up on time, understanding what job responsibilities are, etc. etc. etc. But that idea has just gone completely away.
Not that any of it matters anyway. I haven't seen grocery baggers in years at any of my local supermarkets.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Understood, but this speaks to a larger issue (that, on-topic, grinds my gears). This is an old-man style grumble, but no one takes any pride in any job they do any more . Everyone realizes that bagging groceries is not a terminal career (for most people, anyway), and no one expects you to hustle like you're going to get spotted by a corporate exec and put on the fast-lane to executive management, but there's a mentality to work that's almost completely lost at this point (as far as I can see) that is unlikely to ever come back. It's about doing as good of a job as you can reasonably do most of the time, because that's the implicit deal you made when you decided to take the job.

I agree. Today's youth has no work ethic and an unjustified sense of entitlement.
Nobody wants to work for anything anymore. They just want it handed to them and if not, then they'll complain/protest to whomever will listen.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
