It is funny how Seinfeld references are the default response for the obviously superior intelligent human being, lol. When I read "eating Bugles with spoon" I immediately thought, oh great, we already survived the "eating-Snickers-with-a-fork-and-knife" trend, now this?!

I sure hope that Seinfeld references don't become the next gear grinder.

But there's a Seinfield reference for everything ...

        Or so I've heard
Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII
        Penguins : 1990/91, 1991/92, 2008/09, 20015/16, 2016/17
        Pirates : 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, 1979
        Panthers (FB): 1915, 1916, 1918, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1976

Doing your taxes and owing. 2020's last revenge.

(Also the fact that "owing" looks like it's spelled wrong. Sheesh)

Unless you want to say "doing your taxes and owning", then it looks and sounds right.

I'm holding off on mine. I know I'll end up giving back some (the government here initially gave people untaxed relief money before changing the rule to just taxing it before giving people the money). Though in past years I've gotten back good returns, so hopefully the money I know I'm giving back is less than the money I was probably gonna get back, so I still end up in the positives.

Money wise things have been fine the last year....unless I find out I owe a 4 or 5 digit number.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Frickin' cash settlement rules for brokerage accounts.

More so, my lack of knowledge of them.

I had mentioned some things before in the stock investment thread that actually put me on a restriction list, which indeed is my own fault. It has now cost me, though.

I sold a lot of stock on Friday anticipating to purchase loads of another stock right after, only to find out that cash will not only not settle until Tuesday, but also that I can't even trade it until Tuesday. For cash that I transferred over from my bank account, $25k would immediately become available to trade (even if I couldn't settle it the next day).

Basically, everything I did was one day too late. Now GME is skyrocketing, and I am FOMO'ing hard right now. I intended to purchase Friday, and I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow. Based on the first couple of hours since the opening bell, tomorrow is still a long, long way away.

The other bad news is if I kept things as I did and didn't sell, my other stock has already risen quite a bit as well. Now I'm sitting on my thumbs waiting for this cash to settle and be tradeable. Ugh.

I don't like Seinfeld. Though I've used that last gif before.

Plus, at this very moment in time we're talking about $50k not collected. I still have three more market hours today, after hours and premarket tomorrow, plus the first half hour of trading before my cash settles. I'm fully expecting massive amounts not collected after that, plus the dividends that would have been paid if I could've gotten in Friday, or even this morning.

That is what grinds my gears. I wish I had known about this "unable to trade for two days after selling" thing. I understand not selling after those two days, but not buying is a way different story, and this is the first that I've seen of this.

Instead of going real off topic in the NBA off topic thread, I'll quote the post here.

Not a PTI exclusive thing, but that seems to be the way a number of older people think, specifically on TV.

It bugs me when people act like "people of (my) generation dont understand things from the past". I'm like....people of my generation lived with those things too you know.

Like a cliched one such as mentioning life before wifi/internet, or using vcrs, landline phones, small but insanely heavy TVs and all that. And even things that were before my time, I've at least heard of some of them. Just because someone was born after a certain time doesn't mean they know nothing about life before they were born.

Yes, there is a whole generation who doesn't even know life before the internet, or HDTV, smartphones or any of that. But that's not the generation before 2000.

Even on TV, you see people poke fun at "stereotypical millenials" with things that aren't true. I even saw a show once have someone trying to name or use "old tech" and failed miserably. I'm like, millenials know what a VCR, cassette tape or analog clock are and how to use them, and that person you got for the show isn't even a millenial...

People just group anyone younger than them into the millenials group, but then use negative stereotypes about people under the age of 20 to describe millenials as well.

Although funny thing one teacher once showed me in school. They showed us an old news report from around 1990 talking about the generation gap. So many things the 40+ crowd were complaining about "kids today" are basically what the 40+ crowd today are complaining about with kids of the upcoming generation. Bad music, weird fashion, reliance on new tech, not knowing about the "old school life" and all that.

I work with a guy constantly complaining about millennials. he's 30 years old, right in the heart of millennial territory. but he thinks millennials were born after the turn of the century.
