          How people pronounce GIF.

It should be pronounced "JIF", like the peanut-butter.

Why? If you add a T to the end would you pronounce the G that way? The jift of life? Idk.

Just got back from the grocery store so this is a complaint of laziness about cart's in the parking lot but not the one we here the most.

The place where all the carts are taken to was a complete mess. It was only about 10 carts but people just through them in there with no consideration of the size and placement (only two sizes here).

It took me about 1 minutes to arrange everything correctly to make it easier on whoever has to come and collect them but so annoying that people can't take 3 seconds to arrange them in the manner they are meant to be stacked.

Are you asking why should it be pronounced with a J? If so, because I'm pretty sure the creator said it's pronounced that way.

But I'll always say it the way it's spelled.

If gif is pronounced like jif, should graphic be pronounced like jraphic?

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

I hate when songs have an established rhyming scheme during some portion, and later in the same portion it is unexpectedly abandoned.

                      Below is an example.

                      Spoiler

I know multiple songs will do this time to time, but I just heard this right now and thought of posting about it.

It's going to take over everything.

Subscriptions are ridiculous. Something as basic on a laptop like Microsoft office is no longer a thing because you need to pay to subscribe!

What's next? TVs where you can only change the channel X number of times during a show or else you need to subscribe to a higher tier? Microwaves that only let you press the 30 second button (once) unless you subscribe to the numbers? Or better yet, you can call people for free...just listen to a 30 second ad before the call.

I've seen it already on cars though. The remote start and other features, they give you a trial of the app for a few years and then you have to pay. Things are getting out of hand.

That’s happening in South Korea, not the US. They tried with some Apple thing in the US a couple years ago, got smashed, and now include it for free. There’s still an option to buy unlimited heated seats like there has been, there’s just now an option to try it out for a period of time if you don’t like it.

And MS just put out a new standalone Office last year.

I was just listening to this song here:

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OOCC-9uvjcg" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In the beginning of the first verse, they say:

It feels like the world is crashing around you,
You cannot sit still, mindless encounters
With people who say they'd never remember your name

This is totally fine and naturally rhymes. Doesn't have to be perfect, but they clearly established this portion of the song is supposed to have a rhyme scheme.

Then suddenly, in the beginning of the second verse, they say:

When all of the world is left in the silence,
There's nothing we fear except for the memories
Retired from age and no one remembers your name

                              Okay... what the actual ****?

You can tell that both verses are supposed to contain the exact same kind of structure, down to the first line sharing "world" and third line sharing "remember(s) your name." But "silence" and "memories" have no rhyme to them whatsoever. They don't even try to force a similar pronunciation. In your head, you are probably expecting the word "violence." Hell, even if it doesn't fit the words, it doesn't throw you out of the song at all and you can still paint the same picture of it. "Reminders" would've worked just fine.

I don't mean to tell an artist how to write their material, but this is songwriting 101...
don't even get me started on those hip musicians with their complicated shoes. so self-absorbed and egotistical
