That sums up my opinion completely.

Situation was only avoidable by 1 party, and that was the ones who broke in because the gentleman that owned the home didnt ask for this to happen.

I dont think the guy should get in trouble.

The gentleman that owned the house wasn't involved in the situation. He wasn't even home.

I'm torn on the situation.

In one instance, I am glad the guy did what he did. There are now two less scumbags in Texas. On the other hand, it does sound like he did go out of his way to stop them.

I don't know what should happen to him. I myself wouldn't have shot them, but I can see why he did.

For all anyone knows, those idiots breaking in could have done so at that time SPECIFICALLY to avoid confrontation. Everyone saying "imagine if they were home... rape... death" and all this other stuff... you don't know what these guys were thinking.

You can't justify his actions with theirs. If society was like that we would all be vigilantes. You'd have people killing your younger brother because he slept with someone's daughter and all these crazy things going on.

Im sorry I screwed up my whole point because I reading this at the time.

If the absent homeowner tells police that he asked his neighbor to watch over his property, that could play in his favor, LaFon said.

My point was that the guy who owned the home didnt ask for this to happen, meaning these guys were there to rob the home, the owner didnt invite them to the house.

I would understand if say the home owner had these two guys coming over to help him take care of, say his animals while he was on vacation or something to that extent, but he didnt. These two guys were there to rob the home and commit a crime.

I personally would not have shot them if I was the neighbor, but also dont believe he should get in trouble for this.

Don't think it would of mattered with this guy. Not sure the facts that are out now, but they didn't know if the guys ran, if they were facing him, coming towards him or what.

At least according to Glen Beck and the lawyer he had on his show.

They probably shouldn't of lost their lives, but they also shouldn't of broke into the house. I am looking at like this, what if that family would of been home, or what if a mother would of been home with a child and she got rapped, killed etc...now I know we can play "what if's" with a lot of things, but it all goes back to this. If they would not have broke in, they would still be alive.

The guy is 70 and I'll bet these guys didn't think he would do anything. I want to hear his side of the story.

Cmon man. How can you use downloading music as an example? Talk about apples and oranges.And how do you know what in the mind of someone crazy enough to break into another person's home? Nowadays idioits that are robbing people are killing them if they don't get what they want. We had a very close friend that lost her life to a couple of killers because she only had 88 bucks in cash on her. They shot her right through the heart. My cousin Woody was shot through the eye when he was a victim of a home invasion. He served as a Marine in Iraq and made it through 2 tours to be killed in his own living room.

Fact of the matter is that this man was not anywhere near the crime.....not anywhere near being confronted, and not close to being a victim. What gives him the right to take justice into his own hands? What kind of society what this be if this kind of vigilante justice occured with every crime? One of my best friends beat a 14 year old kid almost to death because he tried to run off with his little brother's bike. My friend went to jail and should've went to jail because you don't take the law into your own hands.....my boy threw away a D-1 football scholarship away in the process.

Long story short. I am shooting anyone that could harm to my family. And I am not going to take the chance to ask them if they are friendly robbers. I served in countries that believe in harsh punishiment for criminals. The crime rates there are low. This country should do the same. Criminals here are getting more and more brazen and violent with their actions. Honest hardworking people need to protect themselves.

Nobody is saying you shouldn't defend yourself. This guy wasn't doing that.

One thing that's been overlooked in the 911 call, which I find hilarious for some reason was the exchange where the operator says "Don't go out there or you're gonna get yourself shot" and Horn replies "You wanna make a bet!"

He called the police and confronted the idiots. Who knows what caused him to shoot? He was a victim. It was his neighborhood. It was his friends house.

I grew up on the Eastside of Detroit off of Mack Ave. It wasn't Disneyland. The only thing that made our neighborhood good was the people that gave a damn about it. I remember getting my *** wipped by neighbors for acting up as a kid. People looked out for each other and tried to prevent the scum from taking over. Times changed and we now have a society that looks the other way when crimes take place. This guy didn't.

I don't blame a 70 year old man for holding his ground and trying to stop criminals from robbing his neighbor. I blame a society that gives criminals the benefit of the doubt and makes excuses up for the reasons they act a fool. As long as it goes that way,we are going to see more of this kind of reaction in the future.

Truth be told I would have done the same thing. I have fought for this country overseas. I have been wounded for people I don't even know. I damn sure wouldn't have a problem doing it for my friends and neighbors.

He said in the 911 call that he didn't even know the neighbors. I find it highly unlikely that they asked him to watch over their property while they were gone.

It makes me sad to no end today to see people just look the other way when someone is in trouble. I don't understand it and just makes my outlook on this world bleaker and bleaker. I'm glad you have done what you have done for this country, and I agree. I look out for my neighbors all the time as well as my friends. I also don't like how society today tries to deflect how when people are just freaking mean that the reason they are is because of their rough childhood, or they are mentally not stable. No some people are just plain mean, and no psychiatrist can try and defend them. I hate how some of these people are not locked up but are allowed to roam the streets, because of the judicial system, and how they take a psychiatrist's views as gospel. Some people on here might have a problem with how I feel, but it's how I feel and you have the right to disagree or agree with me. However, don't say I'm not sane, because I don't believe in how you believe. This is a good and healthy discussion getting to know where people stand, and I'd hate to let this get to the point where it gets locked up for personal attacks.

It's tough...I totally understand defending the home turf.
Heck...one house over and they might have been standing over this guy and his wife as they sleep ready to club them.......I'm sure the guy was pumped up with adrenaline...
it's going to be interesting to see what becomes of this.

I don't think anyone is advocating that he look the other way. He did exactly what he should have done up until the point he left his house. He called 911 and took out his shotgun so he was ready to defend himself.

I just don't see how anyone can support the idea of unnecessarily taking justice into our own hands. That's how innocent people get killed.
