In this case. You can't have double standards though.

If this is looked upon as ok behavior that's when you have a situation when an innocent person gets killed.

Exactly. We have no idea what kind of training this guy had with a weapon. What if there was an kid across the street that the guy didn't see because he was so pumped up an adrenaline? Would people still feel the same way if an innocent person got caught in the crossfire?

I don't think anyone is advocating that he look the other way.

I'm not talking about this instance, but I've seen things on the news where a woman was being beaten to death in a 7-11 type store and the guy ran off after he beat her to a bloody pulp, and people just walked by and didnt offer help or to call 911. Some even took pics on their phones with their camera phone, and then kept walking. Finally someone called 911 and they barely got her to the hospital in time before she bled to death. Even the clerk started ringing up customers while she was laying there bleeding to death. Yes if people take matters into their own hands a lot of the time innocent people will be killed, but in certain instances you have to especially if your family is in trouble. Then I don't have any sympathy towards the thief/rapist/serial killers family. I think if the justice system wasn't so screwed up by giving criminals almost as much rights as victims these things wouldn't happen as often as they do. I'm not going to hold my breath on that ever getting fixed though.

I think it's more of a point against vigilante justice. We read about it in comic books and wish we could all do it at some point, but this world would be an absolutely chaotic place if that was allowed. People would start justifying murder with anything they see fit.

I grew up near Red Hook and East New York. Same thing, different locale.

And that has nothing to do with the the world... our nation. Obviously some places are more dangerous than others but that has nothing to do with justifying what happened. That's an entirely different discussion.

This is a very interesting dilemna.....if criminals know they are going to get quick justice....they might be hesitant of committing crimes...but on the other hand.....what if mistakes are made and someone innocent gets killed/maimed?
It's a pretty messed up world we live in sometimes...huh?

You break into someone's house, you should be killed. Had that family been at home, who knows what could have happened to them. Just look at that family in Connecticut(was it Connecticut).

I am 100% with the guy who killed the burglars. He even said, "stop or I'll shoot." They didn't stop, so he shot. It's their own ******* fault.

They put themselves in the situation. They had the opportunity to save themselves. He clearly said he would shoot if they didn't stop. They didn't stop. You don't disobey a guy with a gun, unless you know you can get away unscathed or you just don't give a **** what happens in the end.

You see a sign on a fence that says "live mine field", do you run onto the field? No, you stop and turn around.

I myself wouldn't have shot them, but I don't disagree with what the guy did.

Eights, I agree with you. If someone breaks into my house, I have 4 other lives at stake (my wife and kids)..........those mofos would be going down or they will have to take me out first. I don't know if I would shoot to kill them, but I would for sure shoot their leg or something to stop them from causing anyone anymore harm.

Robbers are morons, they don't think about how their affecting someone's family afterwards........either by stealing and taking off or they hurt, murder the family. What pisses me off is that there are times where thieves have been hurt in people's homes, and somehow they turn it around and sue the owner.

My realtor was telling me a story about how these thieves would continuously break into this one guys house over and over again. So one day the owner got pissed, so he designed a trap with a 2x4. The thieves broke in again, but this time one of them was unlucky because he sprung the trap and the 2x4 nailed him in his face literally destroying his face. So that piece of **** thief turns around and sues the owner and wins, because the owner of the house intentionally set a trap to hurt someone. Talk about nuts.
