Re: Snow is here!
I work in Woodridge so I was going to take 294N to 55 this morning but heard 55 was a mess around 355 so I took the side roads. Other than being a bit slushy and making a mess of the windows when it dried it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Usually driving throught the forest preserves like I do is a mess when it snows but surpisingly the route I took they kept the roads pretty clean. This was 6:30 this morning.I tried to go to work this morning, made it to about I55 exits on I294N for those that are from Chicago and it was a parking lot @ 6:45 am, left the house at 6:00 am. Having another 20 miles to go, I said screw it and just turned around to go back home. I wasn't going to take another hour or so to get to work. Called my boss that I wasn't coming in and just sitting at home watching the snow fall. I just hope this crap doesn't continue tomorrow morning.
The news are saying that the South and Southwest portions of Chicago are going to get hit again Thursday evening into Friday morning, what a way to make a commute suck.Comment

Living up here my entire life, I've gotten "good" at turning an actual slip into looking like I meant to do it. It's a much needed talent when in public with icey-sidewalks.Comment

Re: Snow is here!
It never gets old. The funniest thing I have ever seen in my life though, was an older guy, about 50-55 that had just came out of a local chicken restaurant. He takes two steps out the door, then misses the curb. His chicken dinner goes flying in the air. In the time he was falling, he had the presence of mind to yell out "FALL!!"
Not sure why he said it, but me and about 3 or 4 strangers near him almost died of laughter. Who the hell says fall when they are falling?

I would've laughed as well, though. And I can't think of any other reason other than to warn people (see some people saying "bump" before going over a bump while driving).Comment

Hmm, maybe so, but the funniest thing about the situation is that nobody helped him up and he got up on his own very fast. I thought I was on a hidden camera show or something.Comment

Maybe he wanted everyone to look and laugh at him?
Who knows...as long as you laughed at him, it's all good.Comment

Don't know what you're missing, man. Great fun, a great, social sport for a lifetime, terrific after-ski partying, too.
Plus, if you're still single, it's VERY easy to meet women on the slopes or in the lodge.
Take care,

Yea Im starting a new job on Jan 14th, so I will probably fly out to Denver to see the Broncos final regular season game, before I start. Maybe ill try to ski and see what I am missing. Sounds like fun just never had time with football practice and such.
My girlfriend will be going, so I guess no meeting any women in the lodge. Actually I have been looking for a romantic place to propose so maybe I will do it when were there.Last edited by Aggies7; 12-05-2007, 03:08 PM.Texas A&M Aggies

Re: Snow is here!
Y'know it's funny but a couple or so weeks ago the head of Environment Canada was on the radio and he said that almost all of Ontario would face the coldest and worst winter in 15 years. A week or so later we get dumped
I don't mind snow before Christmas and New years but I just hate snow afterwards. oh well, it seems we'll be having a white christmas this year which we didn't get last year. Last year was the balmiest winter I can recall in my 28 years on this world.

Wait he was saying "a licky boom boom down"?!?!
Now I feel silly and ashamed for loving that song when it first came out.

Re: Snow is here!
We've had a little bit here this week. Early classes were cancelled Monday because of ice. Didn't help me though, I didn't have an early class.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Snow is here!
In the San Fernando Valley yesterday, it was just about 90 degrees.
On Friday-Saturday, it's supposed to be upper 50s and a "big" rainstorm.
We'll see what happens.
EDIT: Does anyone else get scared playing videogames in storms? I'm always afraid that the power will go out while I'm in the middle of a save situation, thereby corrupting my save file. I try not to play during storms.Comment
