Wouldn't have anyone I really trusted, wouldn't have anyone to tell everything to, and I'd have like no contact with females whatsoever.

I didn't have anyone I really trusted, I didn't have anyone to tell things too, and outside of work, I had no contact with females. My life pretty much consisted of me waking up, going to work, coming home, TV/computer/playing with my dogs then going to bed, and repeat. You could force me to do that for 2 straight years and I'd still choose that over being friends with her.

Don't worry, I'll stop now, you obviously know what I think about the situation.

Man, nearly the same thing happened to me. I was depressed for about half a year, then moved on.

It's also very worth it.

Glad someone else knows where I'm coming from.

Because when we aren't fighting, things go perfect...we talk all the time...and when we're fighting and not talking it just feels like something's not right. That's why I give in all the time, I don't want to think about what would happen if we weren't friends anymore.



I tried that for the last week, and I can't help but text her and see what happens.

It's just hard. I try to do stuff to keep my mind off of it, but nothing works. There's so many things that remind me of her it's not even funny. I drive by a Wal-Mart and Subway, it reminds me of her (we went there all the time). I hear certain songs, reminds me of her. I see Family Guy on TV, reminds me of her. You get the picture.

All those emotions for a "friend"? Is she your ex? If not it certainly sounds like you see her as more than a friend.

Same here. Me & this one girl almost started dating, but then became best friends (even though I continued to have a crush on her for about a year or two). Over the next 3 years she was basically the only person I completely trusted and I could talk to her for hours on end without running out of things to discuss. Then she started to realize she was a lesbian after working at Disney World for a semester and meeting a girl down there. Well her girlfriend ended up being a complete psychopath. She would cut for attention and even told each of us that she had leukemia and that we couldn't tell the other person (she didn't have it and we eventually did). All the while they were getting more and more serious. They were going to move down to Orlando and go to UCF and wanted to eventually get married. Well they figured they would eventually want a baby....and well I think you can understand where that leads....

Well her girlfriend decided that I was getting too much of her attention and started to try to drive us apart more and more. Eventually I got tired of being walked all over by my friend and I wrote her a letter telling her how I felt. Since then we have not talked once (that was winter 06/07). Unfortunately the end of the friendship triggered my lovely genetic depression and caused me to be very suicidal.

However, today I feel so much better about knowing that I don't have her walking all over me and taking advantage of me and she's been replaced by my old friends and some new ones.

No, we've never been together. We're just 10x closer than your average two friends.


I tried breaking it off last year when we were arguing all the time, but the guilt got to me within a few hours and I changed my mind.

The depression part is what I'm afraid of because I had a severe case of it before. There's no way I'd be able to get through that again without someone to talk to.

Like for instance, I'd really like to talk about this with a friend, but I know they'd tell A) each other and B) her right after we finished. Not only that, but they've wanted me away from her for a year, so I wouldn't get an un-biased answer.

JJ, I was in the same boat.

Wanna know what she chose over me? She chose drinking, clubbing, slutting around and a revolving door of friends instead of the one person she could count on to do anything and everything for her, no matter what it was.

anyone seen the four christmases yet?

My wife and i saw it last night. Ended up being better than i thought. Pretty funny through the first 90% of the movie, but i always find the last 20 minutes or so of Vince Vaughn's movie to be slow and not funny (happened with The Break Up, Wedding Crashers etc).

Overall though was funny.

Why would anyone be friends with a girl they actually like?

Every good female friend I've had has been dating a good friend of mine, which means there's not going to be any sex. Outside of that, everything has been a superficial at best school or work friendship.

I personally feel like trying to be friends with a chick you like and hoping that you manage to somehow "fall into some ***" is not the best way to go. Most girls will string you around because it helps their self esteem. Eventually she does whatever she wants and makes you feel like **** until she decides she doesn't need you anymore or you realize it and cut her loose.
