but imo it does put it in better perspective to compare our situation to other areas of the world. We have had it pretty good here in our history when it comes to gas prices, and we still do have it better than most other places.

it's never going to be back down to where it was in the 90s. People should stop comparing it to the past, and instead compare it in the context of the current situation.

it doesn't matter. Their situation is much different than ours. Not only is our infrastructure completely setup around driving cars everywhere, but Europe's higher prices are mostly from taxes. That pushes them to either buy a more efficient car, or go to public transportation.

I've never been on a subway in my life, mostly because I've never lived in an area with any form of real mass transit.

Gas here in Greenville NC is 3.54 a gallon.

(CNN) – Gas prices have surged in the past 12 months, experiencing their biggest dollar increase in the past 30 years, according to a survey conducted for AAA. Self-serve regular, unleaded gasoline averaged $1.54 per gallon nationwide, according to AAA's March Fuel Gauge Report released Tuesday. With so many people feeling the pinch of the increasing cost of filling up the tank, some say the public is paying more for gasoline in the United States than ever before. But are gas prices really that high?

Just filled up and it was $3.64/g. First time I've gone over $50 for one visit.

I paid 3.40 a gallon at Exxon on Thursday. I don't even look at gas prices anymore when I'm driving. I just fill-up.

Gas was at $3.59 here today. Thank god for Sunday.

Tomorrow it goes back up to around $3.69.

Same here- I've become numb to the prices. It's just a part of life now. I get gas almost exclusively at Exxon/Mobil stations and they're usually a bit more expensive but that's all I look for. Price doesn't matter. I have no choice- its not like my complaining will change anything.

For all my complaints, there are millions of other people who are going through the same thing as me.

Maybe its just me, but Exxon's gas seems to get me further than anything else I put in my gas tank.

3.73 and that was outside the city, which is usually 15-25 cents more. I think it's time to trade the truck in for a bike...
