    Well this is wonderful news...

I never knew this until tonight, but it turns out I am related to Adolf freakin' Hitler. Yup, I am a relative to one the most evil bastards to ever walk the face of the earth.

Thankfully, it is not by blood, but from what I understand my grandmothers cousin was married to him for a brief time. I knew his wifes name was Eva Braun (and my grandmas maiden name was Braun) but I never knew there were any ties with her all the way back to Europe. It could just be ignorance I guess considering she was born over there and immigrated here at a young age, but wow. Her cousin was porking that fruity SOB!

I am not sure how close of cousins they were/are so I don't know how closely related I would be considered, but the sheer idea of this is nuts. I'll ask her more questions about it at a later time.

Oh, and before any flaming starts or any comments declaring my grandmother as "evil' ensue, I would just like to say that she is a sweet old Catholic woman who had a brother who fought in WWII.

      (For us)

Yeah, it's definitely unexpected and different. I didn't know if I should post this here, but why not? I won't lie - I am not proud of it by any means, but it's not everyday you hear news like this either.

Hey man be proud of your heritage. It's not like YOU'RE trying to wipe out Jewish people. You're life is tied to history, it's pretty cool, if you ask me. I mean Hitler was a messed up horrible person don't get me wrong. But look at it this way, do people who are related to Thomas Jefferson hide it? Now way, and he owned slaves and cheated on his wife with chamber maids and the such, don't be proud that you were related to the man, be proud you were related to a part of history, not too many people can claim that.

You do realize Hitler was not the Devil? He had serious mental problems that lead to him being flat out crazy, not an excuse for what he did but to just label him as evil and hence anyone related to him would have "evil genes" is beyond rediculous, go back and touch up on your history.

Did I say he was the devil? No I didnt.

Was he an evil man? You bet he was, mental problems or not.

Do I think someone can inherit evil genes? Nah, not really. I was joking when I said that.

Well, as long as you realize that the guy was wrong - that's all that matters. I've heard enough about the subject from one of my grandmothers. And I remember going to see the movie Schilndler's List with my grandfather. I don't remember much from the movie, but I do remember my granpa saying "What you see here was nothing compared to what happened there in real life". But that generation is almost gone, soon there won't be any survivers to tell the story. I hope people don't forget.
I don't think there's another country today (other than the US) that supports my country like Germany (and we all know why). But it's always nice to have friends.
                  My Specs:

                  ZX Spectrum
                  CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
                  GPU: Monochrome display
                  RAM: 48 KB
                  OS: Sinclair BASIC

Obviously people related to him is not evil, but he was possibly the worst human being ever. He was not the devil, but I'll be damned if he didn't do a damn good impression of one.

He's not the worst, people like Christopher Columbus or Ghengis Kahn are far worse in my book. They just did it in a time where there was no mass communication, no world media like there was when Hitler ruled, he was a terrible person for his actions, but his only seem worse because the media put the acts he committed right in your face.

Considering that Hitler never had much of a sex life (even mainstream scholars agree on that) you shouldn't be too worried. Then again, having any kind of relation to Hitler is pretty scary in itsefl. I guess you can impress the ladies and say you're related to Hitler

                          or maybe not...
