But fax is, 16,000 people are dying a year from drunk drivers, and that's the low end of numbers. I think a fair common sense compromise would be installing breathalyser starters into every vehicle, lowering the drinking age, and making drunk driving murders a death penalty offense.
    Cebby, you are 100% correct.

You punish the criminal for actually committing the crime, not because they might commit the crime.

High school kids aren't responsible, most of the time, enough to be able to purchase alcohol. Hell I'm still probably not responsible enough. But I guarantee you I was a lot worse 3 years ago.

Uh, what do you mean kids like me? I've never once driven a vehicle drunk or done anything to put myself or anyone else in danger. I'd be a little more selective with your words.

Also, you have to be 21 to get into some strip clubs.

Didn't you say you got caught with alcohol? 9 times out of 10, you have to be doing something unreasonably stupid to get in trouble (don't start jmood).

Obviously. But how does that make it a privilege?

Its like any mind altering substance IMO. Privilege might not be the right word, but I don't think its anyone's right to consume alcohol.

If it's a privilege then there has to be a way to lose the privilege to drink. Outside of prohibition (and being incarcerated and such), I can't think of a way for a person to lose their "privilege" to drink. Unless you consider a working liver a privilege, in which case I'll have to concede.

Maybe some of you guys should watch this. It appears some of you don't know a thing about liberty and freedom. And that's a damn shame, considering our founding fathers faught and died to protect such things.

Liberty and freedom has nothing to do with 18 year olds drinking alcohol.

Yeah, that is exactly what South Dakota v. Dole 483 US 203 (1987) did. Seriously do you ever have any idea what you are talking about or do you just put random words together and hope for the best?
