The meteorologists were stupid. It looked like this thing would go wide right and be a fish storm up until yesterday. It trended westward yesterday around noon, yet the meteorologists were too chicken to change their forecasts and as a result everyone is surprised when, in reality, Winter Storm Warnings should have been issued by at least last night.
I didn't get even get a freaking advisory until this morning and I've already got 3.5" of snow and might get 10" if things go well. 6" would be the bare minimum.Comment

My aunt and cousins have an 11:30 flight out of Raleigh on Tuesday to come come visit for New Years and my aunt is already worried about not being able to get to the airport on time.
Heh, sounds kind of like Snowmagedddon last year when they at first were calling for 4-7 inches and we wound up with 21 inches. Been a very snowy December here, but fortunately it's been well spread out with no more than a couple inches at a time.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

This storm has been very unpredictable and looks to continue that trend.
For us in Memphis, we missed out on two opportunities but finally got flurries this afternoon and then again around 10-11pm. With the second snowfall, it had finally gotten under freezing so it stuck. Nothing more than a dusting but lovely to see, especially on Christmas.

Got almost 6" so far. This thing looks to be pivoting nicely and bombing, so it's not out of the question that it could snow here until mid-morning. Could get some real nice totals then.
I'm sure there will be many places east of Raleigh, NC that will see a foot of snow from this.Comment

Expected to get 4-6 inches in the next couple of hours with blizzard like conditions in the northeast. And an addition 6-10 tonight, with the same 25-35 mph winds and 40mph gusts.
