Cant just be me? I really feel like there used to be more severe thunderstorms around here when I was a kid. I have memories of being at school with thunder and lightning outside and there were some kids in my class scared of it (granted they were probably like 8 or something)

****, even now, coming off a settled down season of storms and snow, and we're in the midst of a global pandemic unlike we've seen in 100 years
So after all that....again no thunder or lightning or anything.

I feel like one day it'll happen, and it'll be at the worst possible time. Like some 8am or 6pm commute on a Tuesday.

Dont know what's going on now, but it's a blizzard! Its mid April! But then it stopped a minute later and its fine again.

On the plus side, maybe people will finally get forced out of beaches and parks.

This week has been one of those weird weather weeks.

This week I mowed the lawn. In this same week it snowed WHILE it was sunny out.

Talk about how weird it is to see it snowing while sunny, while the snow fell on freshly cut green grass.

Was 93° yesterday and currently sitting at 99° right now so the heat has made its appearance.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

Its been nice first like 10 days of April was bad like wet and high 40's but after that it got nice. After that we have been mostly high 60 to like low 70's and even a few high 70s. Its the first time in like 7 years we are having spring just sucks that the last several years we got more like fall/winter weather during spring and now the year we get spring back you can't really do any thing with this whole virus thing.

This year is all around weird.

I've mowed the lawn twice already (each of the past 2 weekends) but today it's snowing heavily (but not big flakes or staying much on the ground either)

The weather has been garbage. I'm fed up with waking up to winter temperatures and snow flurries.

Meanwhile, it's 20 celsius for like three straight days in Whitehorse, Yukon. Give me a break.

Another one of those "must be easy being a weather person" reports.

For days they've been saying Sunday night was going to be a major downpour of rain. The amounts where you'd see flooding. Every hour of their hourly report was 80-100% chance of rain, and it was going to be real heavy. It was going to be so much rain for so long that it extended into Tuesday morning.

So of course when Sunday night rolls around, you barely see much rain at all, none of it was ever heavy, and most of those hours didnt have any rain despite some even being 100% likelihood of rain.

Monday morning now too, everything seems dried up already and no rain now either. Sure it's still cloudy, but I dont get how you day 80-100% chance of heavy rains and it's not only not heavy, it's not raining at all.

It's funny looking back on my own post just over 2 weeks ago and now today has been so hot. It feels like July weather. Half this week is supposed to be like this.

Feels like summer vacation in May, except with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Weather like this makes me sad I can't go on a trip I was planning this year. Would've been so nice going to small towns and enjoying this type of weather out by the lake.

speaking of quoting our recent weather updates, this ended up being more serious than I thought. The flood river in question is actually only a quarter mile from my apartment, but I'm on the high side so I'm all good, but every bridge in the area that covers the river is closed, it's crazy to know that people just a half mile from me got swamped, and further down the river there were three different dams that broke. The flooding in Midland is even worse than in Saginaw. If I'm not mistaken they were under an additional state of emergency on top of the pandemic.

a random aside, and I can't remember if I posted this anywhere on OS, but we recently (within the last 18 months I'd say) brought along a new police dog, Deebo. Almost immediately he was a stabbed in the head during a hostage situation and was in critical vet care. It inspired "Deebo Strong" T-Shirts. Now he's fully recovered and already helping rescue flood victims. I've been critical of my local law enforcement lately but if there's something they got right, it was bringing along a totally badass police dog

For all those times I say the forecast has been wrong, especially about storms, today finally delivered, at least for a short stretch.

                                Thunder AND lightning.

Nothing extreme, most seemed to be far from me, but it was still the most Lightning I've seen in the sky in probably the last decade COMBINED. I honestly don't think I've been in too many thunderstorms in ages. I guess that's good.
