First snowfall of the season expected to hit tomorrow.

Really not looking forward to that.

Last year already sucked winter wise, but at least commute wasn't as bad because many were still at home.

Now we're getting ready for the first "back to normal" winter since 19/20.

Is everyone in the midwest and east ready for this week's polar vortex/snowstorm?

Debating on using some of my PTO for Thursday night because the time I would be leaving work is when the temperature is supposed to crash and all that rain is expected to flash freeze on the roads.

On the west coast we are expected to get 6-11" of snow this week. A white Christmas here we come!

We got two feet last week so I’m just numb to it all at this point.

I heard the term "bombogenesis" for the first time in my life. Guess it means "bomb cyclone" which sounds terrifying. Apparently in simple terms this means we're getting a winter hurricane. Woof

It's one of those terms (explosive cyclogenesis) that's been around in meteorology since the 1970s. Only recently has it entered into public consciousness.

It's where the barometric pressure drops 24 millibars in 24 hours in a low-pressure system.

The pressure is forecasted to be around the same as what is expected of a CAT 3 hurricane, although obviously, the dynamics of a standard low-pressure system and a tropical system are very different.

Here in Denver it’s currently -10 and tomorrow the high is -7 with a low of -18. Think we’ll have about 3.5” of snow.

Going to get dicey in these parts (Southern Indiana/Louisville, KY). We are leaving work around 2pm (closed tomorrow) today or sooner depending on when the storm is supposed to hit. Dangerously cold temps tonight and tomorrow. Wind chills of -20 to -30 degrees expected.

                  Everyone stay safe.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I was only working half a day anyways today...but right about the time I'm scheduled to leave at 12:30 am is when the weather is supposed to get really dicey.

Looks like I'm getting docked some attendance points by leaving early tonight boys.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

Northeast Ohio here is supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow, 60mph winds, and wind chills as low as -25.

We have outdoor cats and made them cat houses with heating pads. Pretty worried about them. But they won't come in no matter what.

I just hope the power doesn't go out. I hate that more than anything. And I don't feel like freezing my butt off all night the next couple nights.

Wife works 3rd tonight and tomorrow, but is probably calling off tomorrow.

Update, employer just offered time off for night shift tonight.

Combined with my PTO day for Friday, we’re shut down for Christmas Eve and Day, and my normal days off, I’m off till next Thursday.

Update2: They canceled the shift with pay. Which is even better.

Snow wasn't too bad where we are (northeast Aurora) but hot damn it's cold af.

Took my dog for a walk, didn't make it 2 blocks before his paws were too cold and I had to carry him home

Still in the upper 30s here in Pittsburgh, but the front is suppose to arrive around 5:30 tomorrow morning and the bottom will fall out into the single digits with wind chills as low as -25 and 1-3 inches of snow on top of a possible flash freeze. The timing could make the morning commute pretty treacherous for those who have to go out and the mayor advised everyone to stay home if they can. I work remotely and had also taken PTO for this Wed. through Fri. Forecast high of 11 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday so it's gonna be extremely cold for people going to the Steelers game on Saturday night.

Currently 18° and Feels Like 3°. This is NOT Houston weather. [emoji38] However, as long as we have power this time and no pipes burst, we're good. Thankfully there's no precipitation forecast for the next few days. I shut my water off last night and I'll do so each of the next few nights - I'm not going through that **** again.
