Re: Gaming/PC Setups
You have one beast *** system Momentous. And Phobia the reason Hard Drives get lower scores depends on the type. IDE will always score lower than a Sata and you have to take into account the RPM in which the speed of data transfers, as that is a very key element in the score.Comment

I have always been a AMD fan. Every system I built I used AMD. This past build I went with the Intel Quad and let me tell ya stay away from the phenom's. Intel is F-ing FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
Tomorrow is release day for the Phenom II. So who's picking one up? I'm trying to figure out if I should hold out on scooping a new motherboard now or pick it up closer to the summer when the Socket AM3 has been out. I'm so ready to do PC gaming.Comment

The core duo & core duo 2 are the same. The first one was their first dual core proc. The core duo 2 is the same thing. Same front side bus, but slightly faster clock speeds.
Core duo/ core duo 2 - Dual core = 2 cores
Quad core = 4 cores
Go quad core for sure and go 9800GT or higher. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT go 9500. You won't run it on medium lol. The 9500GT will barly break 30 frames per sec on crysis at 1024x768 (which is low res).
Oh I just also saw you going to need a better Powersupply for sure. I think the 8800's and up require at least 400W powersupply. Plus you are going to be running a multi-core proc. I would at the min go with a 500W.

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
I am holding off until next fall I think. Since 2k didn't make a baseball game there is no reason except nba 2k9....and I am hoping 2k10 will be better. So I am holding off for now. I have my PC bundle as a wishlist with new egg....it is priced at 1500 right now. I am hoping if I wait until fall I will save a few hundred bucks.Comment

Ok this is kinda easy

So what is technically, the better/faster computer a 3.0 Ghz duo core or a 2.4 Ghz quad core?
Also what is the best route to get the best gaming system under $800?Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
I am not sure what you mean the best route, NEWEGG if you refering to buying parts, Quad core if you refering to which proc, and a home built system if you are talking about per built compared to mfg built.
To give you a reference the Xbox360 has 3 cores at 3.2 ghz each. But has 512 ram
The PS3 has 7 working cores at 3.2 ghz. but only has 256 system ram and 256 graphic ram.
But a Quad core 2.4 will smoke both the PS3 and 360 as of now. The PS3 could do more if they can figure out the system a little better.
As you can see on this page the Q6600 for the price per dollar for power is very good. Also 2800 5 star reviews is a pretty solid stand point on the proc

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
The top custom gaming PC builder. Build your dream gaming PC or laptop here. Fully customized with the best high performance component selection and prices.
801 w/ free shipping and no sales tax if you are outside of california. You can take the sound card out if you want, but i prefer a card to onboard. Or you can build it yourself, might save a bit since DDR2 is so damn cheap now and 512mb 4870's seem to be pretty cheap.
Personally I am building an i7 920 rig from there with the 1GB HD4870 since theres a 5% off for purchases over 999, it brings the cost to about 100 bucks less than if I was to get the same parts from newegg and build it myself.Last edited by KENYON06; 01-20-2009, 08:05 PM.Comment

Re: Gaming/PC Setups
I think we have the same TV bball.
Just added a 32' Samsung to my setup, moved my other BenQ over to the PC to complete the dual display. I think I'm good for at least 6 months now.
